Post subject: | Navitimer v. Blackbird |
Greeting from BKK Currently enjoying the use of COLT GMT, however also planning to pull the trigger on Breiting's chronograph. The research narrowed me down to two choices. 1. Navitimer - Such a classic look and Breitling unique; OR 2. Blackbird - the dial, the bracelet and the big date display are stunning What all of you think about it? If the answer is to get both...which one first? Thanks |

I'd get the Blackbird (first). I really like the Blackbird (so, why haven't I got one myself? good question.) and it's also a lot bigger than the Navitimer - good in my opinion. I also like the big date on the Blackbird, and especially when it come in an "all polished" mode. |

Navitimer is more elegant, while the blackbird is more robust. Tough choice, but the good news is that you really can't make a bad choice ![]() |

From a practical rather than aesthetic viewpoint Navitimer when you're younger and your eyes can read the slide rule. Blackbird when you're older and your sight is getting worse and you need the big numbers for the date. Like me! The Navi is THE classic Breitling watch. Not one for bashing around but you're already got a Colt for that! |

Thank you very much for all comments. still need to consider more. veilsidegs3: navitimer World is a nice looking watch, but the size of it is a bit large to me. |

Wow, two completely different watches. Both are aesthetically superb. The navi is much more delicate than the BB. But the BB is no navi. I think it comes down to how you plan on treating the watch. The navi is much more delicate than the BB, but its the classic B. The BB has probably the nicest looking bracelet in the entire B lineup. If its your first B, I say BB. If you pick the BB, youre still stuck with the question of polished BB or brushed BB. My opinion is polished BB all the way. Best bet is to get into your AD and see them in person. You buy the one that speaks to you. If you are rough on your watches like I am, you can forget about the navi though. |

I am in love with both, and I wanted a Navitimer long before the Blackbird was released, and after visiting the AD the other day and trying the BB on and seeing it in person, I am a BB lover!! As for polished vs. brushed, I am going for the brushed, I am pretty tough on my watches, and most of my polished bracelets get pretty scratched, and my brushed bracelets still look mint. Go into an AD, talk to the sales person and try the navitimer and blackbird on and go from there. |

It depends what you currently have in your watch fleet. If you have a nice steel band watch I would go with the navitimer on band....but if you have a nice band watch go with the blackbird either way you cant go wrong! |

Thanks for all of the comments again. I have only two in my watch fleet: Rolex DJ and Breitling Colt GMT. I have planned to have at least three-functioned watches: regular three-habded wath: Rolex DJ; GMT: Colt GMT; and the chronograh: have not made up my mind yet but must be from the Breitling! Already went to try on both models and BB was absolutely singing back at me. My future wife also cheers BB. However, the CLASSIC of Navitimer still playing hard on my thought. Will keep you all posted regarding my decision and thank you you all again. This is such a wonderful forum! |
