Well, gentlemen, the waiting is over; I've finally got my Skyland. My AD called yesterday with the news:"Better get down here, Steve," he joked, "or I'll give it to somebody else." That 60-mile trip seemed to take forever, even though I was driving 10 mph over the speed limit all the way. But here I sit, the watch on my wrist, and I know I've fallen in love again -- not that I love the Steelfish or the Planet Ocean or the others any less, but there is really something special about the Skyland. On the wrist it seems to be shouting, "Look at me, damn it, I'm gorgeous!" I'm afraid I'm cameraless at the moment (It was either the watch or a camera; you know who won) or I'd post some pix. But a close friend (he bought my Evo as well as a new Blackbird recently; loves them both) has a new camera and will post some photos of both our watches. Can't wait for you to give them a view. ![]() Steve |

Congrats! I have to agree with you about the Skyland, It's just such a perfect watch on the SS ProII bracelet. Can't wait to see some pics of all the watches you mentioned. I am curious to see how the Skyland stacks up next to the Blackbird? ![]() |

I know what it is like to have to wait for a Skyland and to finally have it. Enjoy it. ![]() |

![]() ![]() Driver, You're wrong about the PO not getting any wrist time. Next month when the Beijing Olympics air, he's going to be on my wrist every second that we watch the swimming competitions on TV. (Gotta root for Michael Phelps; he wears a PO!) I'll be wearing the Skyland for all of the track and field events. And the Steelfish? Can't leave him out of the loop. I'll figure out something. Maybe I'll wear him during the tennis and table tennis coverage. It's gonna be a blast! ![]() Steve |

Driver, Gentle sports! I don't think you've ever seen competitive table tennis at an international level. It aint "ping pong," my friend! Balls being smashed at 100 mph, repetitive loop kills being drilled over and over -- even the toughest watch, with the best shock-absorbing system, is in for a pounding. As for tennis, you've heard of Raphael Nadal? Can you imagine the punishment a watch would receive strapped to his wrist for three or four hours? Downhill mountain biking? come on, Driver! A piece of cake. No, I think the Steelfish would be more than happy to watch a good tough tennis match. Whether he would or not, that's what he's going to get. ![]() Enjoy the Olympics, Steve |
