I have my avenger waiting for pick up. I called the dealer today and apparantly they have said that it has arrived in a box they haven't had in before. Gone is the Bakelite box and replaced with a new style box with studs on it.

Would like to see a pic of the box when you get it.

The new boxes are a little bit smaller and have studs up the front and back holding it together. I had a customer for the Bentley Supersports Light Body and that box was the same!

When I get my new watch this week I'll post pictures of the box and watch itself.

Well theyve been ramming us for a while, so at least now we get studs.

I've not seen these new boxes yet, so if someone could post some pics that'd be great.

Since I have only one Breitling and I bought that recently, I don't know if this box is new or not. But it seems like it might be what you guys are talking about. (Sorry for the bad cellphone photo.)

Happy to oblige with more bad phone photos. There is a leatherette case inside - I suppose you'd call it a travel case. I'd say that the packaging isn't high end but is quite nice.

David, thanks for posting. That leatherette case is the same as before, although the bakelite case is gone. Aesthetically, I liked the bakelite case, and it did add to the "high end" appearance of the packaging, the absence of which you seem to notice intuitively. Realistically, though, how many people ever used it? I never did. The leatherette case is a practical inclusion, and also nice. The blue box is definitely an improvement over the airplane vomit collage of the previous box. So in all, while I suppose I might miss the bakelite box in principal, I'd say this is a good overall compromise.

Edit: On second thought, I remember I actually would use the bakelite box to hold my watch overnight if I didn't feel like putting it on the winder, but I didn't do it all that often. Most of the time, it was a very elegant space occupier in my closet.
