Greetings all, has anyone heard anything that would relate to the letter "B" being etched into the side of the bezel at the 57 second mark. A friend is trying to tell me a genuine Breitling would have that, others say he's crazy. Any comment appreciated. :?: :lingsrock:

I just bought my first yesterday, a Superocean 2008 model. It has the "B" on the outside edge of the bezel where you described. Not sure if all have them though!

I know i'm a cynic, but does this post just scream of " I'm a counterfeiter and tell me what I can do better"?

If you've actually done ANY research, you know the answer to the question posed by the OP. if you're canvassing the unwashed masses about how effective your fakes will be, you'll ask this kind of question... Either way, I refuse to meaningfully contribute.

I'll be a little less cynical seeing as searching seems to be a very difficult thing for many people to do.

The B is etched on to a number (but not all due to design - Navitimer for example) of bezels at 57 minutes. A few years ago you could safely say that a watch that should have the B but didn't was either older or fake. Now a number of fakes have the B as well so it's pretty meaningless. The best way to determine real or fake hasn't changed - post pictures in the replica section and let the experts there comment.

Kind of like Cartier with "Cartier" spelled out on one of the lines of the Roman numeral VII on the dial (i think that's the number). Not all have this I don't think. Counterfeiters are scum.

It's funny that people jump directly to the OP being a counterfeiter. The "policing" seems a bit over the top since this information is found quite easily from a simple google search. Some comradery we have here, huh?

To be fair, it was just me making the accusation and I'm a terrible cynic.

Well, only one person did, so I don't know that it's fair to extend that to the board in general. (I'm charitably overlooking WST's "scum" comment, since he didn't specifically say the OP was included in that characterization.) That said, I agree - the question was harmless enough in itself. I mean, if the OP is a faker, he's quite behind the times, since most good fakes already use the etched B, as Roff has said. And while the question is something that could have been researched, the OP was asking for clarification of a disparity in the information he had received. It makes sense he would ask for that clarification here; after all, we are the Breitling Source. If you can't ask it here, where can you ask it?

In Ian's defense, I'll just note that it seems we have had an influx of newbies recently. Not that that's a bad thing. We all have to start somewhere. (Lord knows I did; a LOT of my newb question were totally lame - as are some of my current ones, for that matter.) But it also means we "old timers" are seeing lots of questions we know can be answered if people just did a bit of looking.

Anyway, I can't add to Roff's answer, so I'll just say to Badticker, welcome to B-Source, and I hope Ian didn't cause you any cardiac problems.

Thank's for the welcome JacksonStone, and ouch! from Ian the cynic, I am a newbie to to BS, Should say that on my profile! and the post was serious question to me. I never expected to be attacked as a counterfitter in a million years! Sorry I am not as educated or savay as some members here, that's why I posted the question because I thought some enthusiast, such as myself, might appreciate posting an honest answer! I seek only knowledge so that I do not purchase a counterfiet!!! Now, I'm kinda sorry I asked, come on Ian, let me in on your knowledge here, NOT a counterfitter, actually if found to be CF, I would report dealer. Signed : WOW ! :)

I can't even open the back to change the battery without taking it to a jeweler, and then, he has to send it out, because he can't do it! Counterfitter my ARSE! Glad I joined this community?

OK, point made. Occasionally some of us get a little cranky - Ian must have missed his daily dose of Metamucil - but generally I think you'll find we're a pretty nice group, Ian included. If you can get past this little hurdle, you should like it here.

I think for some of us there is an accumulation of frustration about fakers. We see so many dodgy sellers and ppl getting ripped off that eventually it really annoys us. Occasionally an honest person will cop it accidentally. Welcome to BS!
