Post subject:  1st Time Buyer Needs Help

Hello all,

I am getting ready to buy my first Breitling this week. I have looked at all models in my price range and have decided to go with the SuperOcean Heritage, Black Dial, Mesh Band. Long's has given me a price of $3570. Is this a good price? I see that the MSRP is $4200? I was debating about looking for a pre-owned one if there was a significant price difference but I am weary of buying from a non AD on the internet. I just want to make sure the $3570 is legit. Is anyone on here selling one? Thanks in advance!

Assuming that you are in the US then that price is fairly standard - 20%. You can probably do a bit better, try one of the two forum sponsor US ADs - contact jnelson3097 for Govbergs in PA or FEAR for Provident in FL.

I agree, you could do better. Btw you can also find out the MSRP from breitling.com. Just go the "My Breitling Made to Measure" section, spec out your ling and pick a dealer and it will show you the price.

Thanks for the replies. I spoke with Gov in PA and got quoted a decent amouny less. Time to give my local AD an ultimatium.

Just spoke with Moonlight in Jackson Heights NY. They quoted 3100 and asked for a check only. No credit cards. Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone dealt with Moonlight or Govberg recently? Govberg seemed a lot more legit. I went down to my local AD (Long's) and they would not come down from their price of $3570 at all.

Both are ADs so perfectly fine to deal with. It's only the gray market sellers I would ask those questions about.

And what state are you located in? If you buy from out of state you can potentially save on sales tax vs. buying in-state the AD is always required to charge and collec it.

I'm located in Mass. I saw some unfavorable reviews for Govberg on Yelp. At this point I am tempted to just pay the $3570 and save myself the worry.

There are loads and loads of satisfied Govberg customers on this site. Check out the feedback section for anything to do with George at Govberg.

Lots of positive reviews of George and Govberg on this site, so I would take the negative ones with a grain of salt. Plus with the extra $270 you are close to adding a DPII on deployant

Well I have bought from them and their service is great, thats the reason I referred you to them. Everybody here has their ADs they frequent and like and frequent them because they like them  Lots of people here have used Govbergs and I've only read good stuff about them.

There is no serious worry when buying from an AD. Govberg like any other company is going to have some bad reviews because they sell a pile of watches, and like in any other business things happen. There was actually a couple of issues that came up in my deal with them and I can tell you without question George backs up what he sells 100% and if there is a problem he takes care of it fast.

When we're talking ADs I would most definitely grab the best deal.

Just don't settle for the $3570 as 15% (not 20% that was incorrectly calculated by another poster) is minimal. No problem with giving a check as the store just wants to save on the 2-3% fee they get charged for credit card transactions.
