So I've been watching a few Breitlings on eBay and even sent decent offers (only a few hundred off asking price), I get a decline, the auction ends with no buyer, and the seller relists the item for hundreds more than the price that failed....WTH?

He thinks if he lists it for more, he'll get an offer for a few hundred less, which would be equal to his asking price the first time around.

Ha! That's what I was thinking too.... 'now where is that guy that offered me a few hundred less a couple days ago?'

That's actually right, and it probably works once in a while.

Something else I also do if I end a fixed price listing, just before I end it, I revise the price to be at least 20% higher so that's what will show in the ebay history should a buyer happen to come across it when searching completed listings.... because that's something good buyers do. It's good sellers that have to try and stay one step ahead. Also, it's only 20 cents to run a fixed price listing so no big deal there, and as for rejecting a borderline offer I often do because I tell myself I can probably write that person back the next week and make the sale. Funny thing is most of the time I never need to, so tells me my gut was telling me right to turn it down.
