Post subject:  Hi and help buying please

First of all hi all, this is my first post and I need a bit of advice even though I understand it will be a bit biased. I have always loved the Navitimer I just love the look and will never use any of the functions. I am not rich but I have saved hard and now just about have the money to buy an 01 on a leather strap with deployment. My main problem and this is going to sound stupid but I scared to spend this sort of money on a watch and I’m unsure. In order to make it a bit more worthwhile I would want to wear it to work but I’m a paramedic, the shop have said it would be fine but get the bracelet but I like the strap. I just want some help please I had a medical scare over Christmas and life is to short but at the same time I want Porsche and so on, should I do it now or because of the money should I wait till and this is going to sound terrible it would be bought in memory of a loved one which I don’t want to happen but it is inevitable within the next 10 years sorry.
Who does the best deals in the uk im not sure about the net and would rather go to a shop if I buy one.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

I'm not going to tell you how to spend your money, Porsche vs. Navitimer has to be your choice, but I will say that you don't need either, they are both luxury purchases about how they make you feel. If the watch (or the car) will make you feel good then how can you put a price on that? As long as your obligations and priorities don't suffer then spend the money and enjoy your life.

A Navitimer isn't the most rugged of watches, but neither is it going to fall apart when you are at work, if you choose to buy it then wear it and don't worry, and strap will be fine.

In terms of UK ADs, a couple are sponsors with links at the top - Banks Lyon and Andrew Michaels.

To me it sounds like you're not sure about buying a watch.

If you're not sure don't do it. JMO.

Cheers!

Indeed, if you have ambivalent feelings about anything,
it's always smart to follow your instincts & not charge
through for now. If you intend to buy a watch, & want
a Breitling, you can scale down your sights to the basic
entry Colt line. This particular model will withstand gruel-
ing punishments, still look solid, & wear well over time.
The prices are lower @ this end, though not super
budget. Check around, don't rush, & report back here
before cracking your piggy bank. And, best of health
& fortunes.

I was unsure about my first Breitling purchase, like you. After about 3 weeks I decided on the entry level Colt II Auto. Don't get me wrong, I really like my Colt, but if I could go back I would have purchased a Navitimer or SOH and spent the extra money. All in all you have to do what you think is best for you.

Now if buying a Colt or Superocean meant I could still get a Porsche, I'd do that!

I say get the watch and the Porsche, as life is too short, but take your time to get them both used, so that you don't feel bad about the purchase. Oh, and don't buy a Colt if what you really want is the Navi (especially since the Colt looks nothing like the Navi). I bought the Navi when what I really wanted was to find a mint conditioned Crosswind Special. Ended up selling the Navi and realized I should've just bought the CWS in the first place.

My advice is simple, don't buy now if you are not sure because once you buy you will quickly realize that this is just the start of something that you can not stop.
Many of us here have fallen for it. It's a curse but in the end we love it ;-)
