IMPO one of Breitlings finest hours. For a watch to wear on a daily basis. Sure gets my vote.
Really don't see the "progress" into a Colt 44.

I've had......

4 x Colt GMT's (3 x black, 1 x silver)
4 x Colt II auto's (1 x blue, 2 x black, 1 x silver)
Not tried:- Colt qtz / Chrono Colt.

A watch that I never have to take off.

Currently sporting a black dial model on Pro1 black rubber
I also have in my drawer, never worn.... Another Pro1 black rubber, a Pro2 black rubber and a Pro2 black rubber with ratchet clasp. You know just in case supply gets low ;-)

Breitlings cheapest, also one of their best impo. 8)

Other Breitlings owned over time.... i think i'll put a thread in the Gallery ;-)

The Colt Auto II is one of my favorite Breilting offerings, and I had to think long and hard on finding a cockpit vs a silver dial Colt Auto II.

Just a great looking watch with lots of details usually reserved for higher priced models.

I had a Cockpit too, ended up matte brushing most of it.

think ive gone off the bracelet style..... leather and rubber for me

although this was one of my better pics of a 2008 watch on a bracelet

I noticed in your pics that the Cockpit looked brushed, but thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. I received the bracelet, but added a blue croc since I have a preference for straps.

Too bad they already killed it.

As a few members said..... I've never seen an MOP cockpit in the flesh either

In terms of bang for the buck, perhaps only the Steelfish has more.

Had a couple of Steelfish, always flipped them pretty quick due to I always thought they wore a bit top heavy. Great watch though.

In your pics the Silver dial looks almost white 8)

Now that's a nice look.

The Colt II was my first Breitling. I still think its one of the nicest looking models that theyve made.

Breitling calls it silver but the silver Lings I've had I would call white - Chronomatic, Skyracer, Datora, Fish, Colt, and I'm leaving out a dozen or so I cant recall at the moment!

The Colt II Auto was my first watch purchase and is now my daily wearer!

To be a bit less terse, the Colt is, unfortunately, another in a long line of examples showing how Breitling has lost their way. I can't say the Colt Auto II is my favorite watch, but it's still a very good one: perfectly functional and attractive, with applied indices, well-proportioned hands, and decent lume. The dimensions are great, unless you're a "bigger is better" die hard: 41mm diameter at 12.4mm thickness is right in the sweet spot for me. In all, it speaks of Breitling as a maker of good-quality, functional watches. So of course they had to discontinue it, and in its place, introduce the typically garish, oversized hunk of tastelessness that is the Colt 44.

To borrow Sharkie's borrowing of Monty Python: Breitling, I fart in your general direction.

I've been umming and ahhing about trying to organise a swap deal: my SOSF or a black dial Colt II. I like the design of the SOSF more but the size of the colt (which ask brings the 42mm SOSF into play).
