Without knowing the full details, can it be assumed the person bought it from the 'grey' market?

My Breitlings have only been purchased from an official dealer and, lo and behold, I've never had any problems at all. My dealings with Breitling have been impeccible; for example when my Jupiter Pilot went away for a battery change they changed the glass on it, which I had scratched bady which was my fault; but this was done free of charge.

Maybe going to somewhere other than an official dealer might save you money; and so when you go back to Breitling they hit you with a massive repair bill; if that is the case here then I applaud Breitling; why should they help someone who has tried to bypass the official dealer network?

There are warnings all the time put out by Breitling about buying their watches away from official dealers; so if this person has done that, then serves him right. Like I say, there is nothing to state that the person did, but I think it can be asumed he has done this?

Thats what I was thinking. If the watch was such crap, surely he'd get more money if he included it with the box.

It would not seem so. He says he returned the watch three times and the third time Breitling wanted $800 implying that the first two were warranty repairs.
Anyway, too many variables here to speculate. How long has he had the watch? What was the nature of the damage? The watch may have been badly handled but Breitling honored the warranty.
Out of warranty they said - sorry, pay up?
Too many possible scenarios.

Have a look at the number: A10350

That must be a Wings Automatic before Chronometer, which means, the watch must have been built by 2000....
