I have a old Navitimer 92 and the anti reflective coating looks like it might be worn off in a few spots. Thankfully it's not scratched or anything, but can you get the anti reflective coating redone? An if so, where and how much? Thanks!

As far as I know Breitling exchanges the crystal for a few hundred bucks and doesn't re-coat it.

There are a couple of aftermarket companies who will do it, but it is easier and cheaper to just replace and as grenhall says, that's what Breitling does.

Sorry for hijacking but has anyone done this operation recently and if so could you please post the total cost for the change of crystal. OP if you get a price quote from BUSA / BUK could you please let me know what the price would be?

I had a new crystal put on my Longitude recently along with other things. The cost to my AD's Breitling certified watchmaker was $220. I strongly recommend this type of work be done at an AD you have a relationship with IF they have a Breitling certified guy - quicker and generally cheaper than BUSA when labor is factored in. I had a new dial ($328), new crystal ($220), major movement overhaul with water damage, which I anticipated ($650), and complete exterior refinishing, the quote was over $1200 with tax. When I picked up the watch, I was charged $780 + tax. :wowzers

I shudder to think what the total would have been had you gone through BUSA for all of that.

I had a Rolex crystal double AR coated about 4 months ago. It cost $75.00.

I'll get the contact and repost.

Thanks! I'm going to contact my AD tomorrow to find out. My crystal is about 99% but I have one small hairline in the AR that really really bothers me. I can only see it in some special angles but I know it's there.

Another option is simply to have the outside AR removed altogether. Then you don't have to worry about it any more. The irony of the AR coating is that it is softer than the sapphire underneath it, and it scratches more easily. If the only option for fixing scratched AR is to replace the whole crystal, then what's the point of having a scratch proof crystal? I had an older-gen Omega SMP that had AR coating only on the inside, and I actually preferred it that way.

Here's the contact to the guy who AR coated my crystal:

Pb Dad <pbdadcustoms@yahoo.com>

PBdad Bespoke Design & Watchwerks 6444 east Spring St. #344, Long Beach, CA. 90815

The crystal came out great. The only problem is that my AD's Rolex "certified" watch maker was unable to make the swap. :guns: So I'm currently searching for a local North Jersey/NYC watch maker who can make the swap for me.

Ask around on TRF. Those guys know every good rolex guy in the country.

Wow, so it seems like the process is not only easy, but can be pretty cheap! Thanks everyone for the info, I'm heading over to my AD to get this done, once I do I'll circle back with my experience.

You understand that it's easy and cheap if you go non official right? An AD isn't going to do it, they are just going to tell you Breitling policy of replacing.
