I have a chance to buy a used 2007 men's windrider cockpit with steel pilot bracelet from a local jewelry store. They are asking 2900. Is this a good price? Is this a good watch? I really like the look and have been looking at similar ones for years but the expense of a new one has just been too much. I came onto this one but wanted some honest opinions.

I don't do pricing advice, but the FAQs suggest checking completed sales on eBay and listings on Chrono24, remembering that Chrono24 is dealer asking prices.

Cockpit is a very underrated watch in my opinion, one of the most versatile pieces of recent years.

Great watch. I'd say the price is a bit on the high side. Naturally, a brick and mortar will be more than online deals; however, an offer of $2,500 if it has the box and papers would be reasonable. Speaking for the pilot bracelet only. A leather strap should be a bit less. YMMV, of course.

Yeah it has all the paperwork and original box. And it's an automatic.

Since many car companies offer certified pre-owned vehicles,
maybe it should apply to watches as well. Ask the local jeweler
for a year +/- warranty. This is a good bargaining chip along with
its box/papers provenance, & metal bracelet vs. leather strap. Try
putting down a refundable (in writing) deposit charged to a credit
card. This too can be a viable bargaining tool. You can check out
this jeweler with the Jeweler's Vigilance Committee. The JVC should
have data on this merchant's rep, especially if any negatives appear.

All Cockpits are automatic, as are most (but not all) Breitlings. If the seller is using that as a justification for the price, he's just using a sales tactic; pay it no mind. Original papers and box are definitely a plus.

I think the Cockpit is an excellent watch. As long as the watch is in good condition, and you like it, you can't really go wrong with it. I defer to Roff's advice on price.

I have one, and as I said above I find it to be one of the most versatile pieces that Breitling have produced in recent years. It works equally well with jeans and a t-shirt or under a cuff with a suit.

I almost view it as the Steelfish's younger sibling from the perspective of being versatile. It has similar styling but is still different enough to enable an easy differential upon viewing. I've wanted one for a while, but I just haven't pursued it.
