Hi All,

I would greatly appreciate your feedback, I'm looking at purchasing my first ever Breitling Super Avenger (blue/white dials), Pro 2....

I have been to my local Breitling dealer, where they are asking AUD $6,950 for it...is this price competitive???

If anyone would know where I am able to purchase one for a better price and of course it is a genuine Breitling, could you please reply, I have checked out a few on-line Breitlings, but I don't know if the shops/sellers are trustworthy...I would dearly like to purchase one within the next month...please help me if you can...

Kind Regards,

Luka

I'd strongly advise you stick to the AD network , esp for your first one.....certainly play one against the other but it seems SA's are difficult to find so mayby one on the wrist is worth two on the net!

The SA was my first breitling also....a wise and superb choice and undoubtedly the 'big daddy' of lings

enjoy and as I'm 12000 miles away, in rip-off UK, I'm sorry I'm not able to help with av discounts in OZ. In the UK, I managed around 10% for my first ling and more for second third etc, build that AD relationship...its worth it in the end (I ended up getting 15% off my Navi world pre-price rise)

Luka79,

Go to this link below, they have 1 White Dial Super Avenger left. I have purchased 2 Super Avengers from them and they are great to deal with. Both times I ordered, the watches were in my office by 10:00 AM the next morning.

I would think if you could get your local AD to discount even 10% on an SA it would be worth dealing with an AD over an internet dealer at 15% off. Knowing your warranty is legit and any issues are handled by your AD is worth $$$ in my book.

But that's me...

That price does seem very high! The price in 2007 here in Canada for that watch $3995 cad (same as in the USA). The prices have gone up about 16%, so that would make it now $4640 cad. At the exchange rate of 1AUD=.975640CAD, it works out to 4755.85AUD. That is more than 2000. more than over here. I am not doing this calculation to make you feel bad, I simply cannot believe there would be that much of a price difference. I remember being over in Australia in 2006, although I did not look at watches then, I found a lot of electronics and other things that seemed to be fairly priced.
You could make a great trip to Hong Kong likely and still save money! I would look around a bit if I was you, though. I know how strong the urge is when you want to get a watch, though, but I would definitely advise going through an AD if at all possible. Then you have the official papers, and the assurance of good service should anything go wrong.
Hope that I haven't disappointed you, but since you asked I do have to say that the price seems high.
Cheers,
Carl

Thanks for all your feedback all, I really do appreciate all your help...

here where I am we only have one official Breitling Dealer, so I am maybe thinking the mark-up might be so high due to no competition or all the tax tariffs that we pay here (just my thoughts)...

But yeah I will still look at purchasing it from the dealer, pay a bit extra and have that security....

Once I buy it I will post some pics...thanks for all your feedback, judging by your posts the Super Avenger seems like a great watch, so paying the extra few $$$ will be money well spent, if not I still got my Iphone to check the time on

Regards

Luka

Hope you'll get it soon and safe!

I also recommend an AD over internet (and please, leave ebay and similar places just out of it) - especially if it's your first.

Regarding prices, you can never compare any Canadian or US price to yours. The northatlanters are well treated while the rest of us aren't. However, even with Swedish or Japanese measures that price seems very high. I think that price must be one of the highest in the world unless your AD quoted a piece with a diamond bezel... That can't be right.

Hi All me again,

Well after a bit of a wait I have finally purchased the Breitling I want (Super Avenger - Blue face/white dials with Steel Bracelet).

I found a great watch dealer here where I live (by luck a co-workers husband told me about his store) who put me on to a contact Interstate (another Breitling dealer in Melbourne) who got me the watch for a real good price $4,240 AUD.

Thank you all for the replies/comments and I am so happy to be joining this club and most of all wearing my Ling :)

I will post some pics aswell

Kind Regards,

Luka

Congrats and great choice.

The Australian prices must be higher than out here. Perhaps its the shear number of AD's available (half dozen within a few minutes).

Don't fret, enjoy your Ling 8)

Hey Luka

Congratulations on your new Super Avenger. This will be my next watch also and I'm pleased you were able to get such a good discount.

In Australia the Melbourne dealers seem to be the most likely to drop their price. Unfortunately, I got the first SOHC46 in the country and the best I could do was an extra strap. Happily, the Ocean Racer is superb.

cheers,
Rohan

PS: I will PM for for the dealers name.

Hi Rohan,

Cheers for you reply mate, yeah it's unfortunate that here we get dealers who ask for ridiculous prices and at times provide no discount at all...

That watch is amazing, very nice Rohan...really fine piece :)

So are you going for a Super Avenger next??? if you want the details of my dealer let me know...good to meet ya :)

Regards,

Luka
