Hello,
Thanks in advance to all who make the time to respone to my question.

I purchased new in 1996, a SuperOcean Colt and have enjoyed the watch everyday since the purchase. Just today when attempting to adjust the time, the entire set screw pulled out completely when attempting to make the time adjustment. I was able to reinstall the the set screw but this has never happened before and deduct that this is not a good thing!!
Can this be repaired? Is the age of this watch worth having it fixed? If so, should I send it to the factory or fined a local dealer? and finally, any idea of cost of repair and full service?
I know I have asked a lot of questions but not having to ever thing about this watch not working properly after 16 years has freaked me out!

I am guessing from your comments that the watch has never been serviced? It should be serviced every 5 - 7 years and so no surprise that it's now experiencing some problems. It will also have been operating without oil for close to a decade.

It needs Breitling servicing and will come back looking like new - I hate to think what the estimate will be if it hasn't been serviced before, but with regular servicing (!) your watch will be running happily in 100+ years so definitely worth it if you plan to keep and enjoy it.

Welcome to BreitlingSource!

Roffensian,

Thank you for the prompted post. I agree with the comments about not having it serviced, just never take the darn thing off and time slipped away.
As far as having it serviced, my original paperwork shows Stemford CT as the North American location, do you know this to still be true?

The crown stem part will be an easy fix - been there, freaked out, done that. Any watchmaker can do it, but it is well overdue for service and when it returns it will be like new from the store, inside and out.
