That's how you do a throwback... Beautiful.

Now if the slide rule was blacked out too then... :cheer:

Japan LE with DB.
Can't remember the year from the top of the head, I'm on the work.

If someone could please point me in the direction of one of these watches for sale so that I can purchase it immediately, please let me know. That thing is a stunner. Must get one.

If you have a look at the thread title - it does describe quite adequately how easy those are to find.

One white was sold to the US last year, have not seen a black one for sale outside Japan for years - as Rene wrote on another forum - they come up, once every 5 years typically. Though, probabilities being what they are. the next could of course be tomorrow. None of the regular sales sites like chrono24.com list any for sale.

edit: checked my records, so know how to reach the US owner of that white Mecanique - he might not refuse offers, pm me if you need that info.

Old Navitimer Mechanique (1995 Japan only LE)

close. very close. right country, wrong year.
Should have checked more carefully rather than just copy from the LE database on here!

Exactly what I knew it was, my favourite ever Breitling! I'll add your pics to my little gallery.

Congrats on the pick-up Fred.

 assumed (knew?) you meant this one, Sharkmouth !

the 1995 A11022 Japan LE is nice (only one I know carrying the LE no. on the dial, nice touch),
but a bit too similar to the "Patrouille de France" to generate these feelings ...

will post some more pics when it arrives, quite the HappyFred to have found one

WatchFred - PM sent

PS - I'm embarrassed, but I missed the meaning of "hen's teeth." Thought it mean "great" or "beautiful", not "rare as ..."

Yes, I'm an idiot.

Post subject:  Re: hen's teeth

the thread title does have a history in several older threads, originating iirc with Roff answering a question about finding bezels for SuperOcean 1004 or 807, maybe the rarest of all Breitlings. Those can be found at your local watchmaker, right next to the hen's teeth.

So when I finally find something - watch or part - that I had been hunting for ages, I sometimes post those teaser pics of the hen's teeth - omitting the "rare as"; sorry if this was a bit confusing.

Many Congratulations Fred.

Wow!

99.9% of us will never see one of these in the flesh.

Thanks so much for posting these great pictures and making us all jealous of you.

thanks, Ricardo !

maybe AM could speak to Breitling about a re-edition of that LE ?
it is so beautiful, I am sure the market would love them - a real LE, not a 2k excuse ....

Post subject:  Re: hen's teeth

well, the hen has landed in Vienna - and so have the teeth.

thought I'd grab some pics, hope you will enjoy them - the watch is in LNIB condition,
like expected from that particular seller, seems quite rarely worn.

not easy to tell in the pics, but the croc strap seem anthracite, not black - is that faded
(hard to believe, as it is totally uniform), or was there a special color for these japan LE ?

a pic of the packing at the end, Bakelite box (regular size, Alan) with a wooden watch
stand - probably adds $5 to the production cost, but a very nice touch !

have it on good authority that another - white - Mecanique 2001 will land in the hands of
another member soon, looking forward to see pics of that one.

voila, Old Navitimer Mecanique, Japan LE of 400, A11022.1, 2001
