I've never been a fan of the Breitling Colt series due to its small size! But when I saw a client of mine at the office yesterday wearing the latest version Breitling Colt 44 black face on steel bracelet, I was very surprised how stunning it looks :wowzers and just the perfect size at 44mm. It looks great even with a suit.

Very nice indeed!

Seems to me that Breitlings wear "small"... I could be wrong but I found my Colt tiny so when my wife decided she wanted it, I was delighted to give it her to go with the SMP that she also pinched off me. Now, the SMP is 36mm and the Colt is 38 yet the SMP looks bigger on her wrist!

Also, the SOP that I replaced the Colt with at 42mm doesn't seem anything like as big as my Speedy at the same size. Not a problem as I love the watch but I just think they do wear smaller than their size suggest.

Perhaps a new Colt at 44mm would be perfect for me?

I'm seriously thinking of getting one. It's a sturdy very masculine looking tool watch which reminds me of the Seawolf but dressier and looks classy.

In my experience, some Breitlings wear small because the dial is relatively smaller and the bezel relatively larger than with other similarly-sized watches. I loved my old Steelfish but for such a beefy watch, the dial was a trifle small. Probably the same reason I haven't bought an older Colt or Superocean, at least yet. I'm a big fan of the Chrono version of the new Colt as well.

Nah, I think most of us are similarly ticked off with the overall present brand offerings. I will cop to possibly lowered standards and maybe value considerations based on the disappearance of reasonably priced new Breitlings, though I actually do like the Chrono. Would I like the Colt Chrono II alongside the 2007 lineup? Maybe not, but I think it's one of the better ones presently available. Going down the list, Superocean, nope; SOH, maybe in 42mm, Galactic, nope; Chronomat has a couple I kinda like but that bezel font and dial engraving still has me cold; Navitimer of course is fine but not over 43mm or under 41.5; Transocean is nice used, but not for new money, basic Avenger is still nice; SA just too big for me; new Blackbird is a crying shame; and I need to see the new world timer before I make any conclusions about the blue globe on the dial, but first impression is doubtful. In that lineup, yeah, I like the Colt II chrono. Still, whenever I buy next, it will almost certainly be pre-owned, and it may not be a Breitling.

Aesthetically it just doesn't seem to have a lot of Breitling DNA in it. I'd been dithering about a Colt Quartz II (2006-11) for ages. When I saw the new Colts I went straight out and got one of the old.

I was traveling this past week and saw the blue dial Colt 44 at an AD. I thought it looked very nice, liked the mostly brushed (case sides were polished) look and the blue was a nice shade. The size for a 44mm piece fit fairly well on my wrist (lug length was at about 51-52mm, my max.). The new Transoceans did nothing for me. Most of the new SOs are too large.

With the all the price increases on in-house movement pieces (and not just Breitlings) these days, I think it's time to try some other brands and/or the used market.

:uplaugh: Your taste in watches differs quite a bit from mine, Roff, but on this point, I agree with you.

Are you an attorney/is your client being sued for spending past due alimony on self-tanning lotion?

Same with me and the superocean 2. The sooner breitling buries these designs the better.

I just saw the post today, I've been having delayed reactions lately. Commented on another post then realized it was from 2009, oh well.
