I know that everyone, well almost anyway, are hating on the new model lineup but I personally think it looks pretty nice in this ad found in todays business paper.

What do you think?

It's a good looking watch for the most part but they could put it on a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and I'm still not going to like that bezel font.

It really is quite hard to look past that bezel font. The numbers on the dial are easier to just look past but I agree. The bezel ruins it.

I still think it looks best all brushed. The best looking ones are the LE and the flying fish. If they came out with another all brushed LE model with the display back, it would be hard for me to not buy it.

So you really like the font they are using? Really?

I may not be a great fan of the font but I would have no problem to put one on my wrist.
Again, I think it's more a case of looking at a picture v's looking at the real thing on your wrist.

I guess so but it feels so weird, from a design perspective, to mix such a classic watch as the Chronomat with some space-font. It's like putting 20'' chrome rims on a Ford T. Sort of.

I've seen that ad in other publications, and for some reason it makes me retch. It's not that the ad is that bad. I think it's more because I remember seeing Breitling print ads in the past where I loved what they were showing, and this one is just a reminder of how far the brand has strayed from what I used to like about it. What's worse, the ad tries to make it seem like I should really like this watch (which is the whole purpose, I know), and I just resent it that much more.

As far as the font goes, I'm with Justin - when it's brushed, it's not bad. The Flying Fish on Pilot comes closest to being a current-gen Chronomat I would actually consider buying. The problem is, on some level I would still feel like I'm settling for that font and the square dial. At that price, settling is not an option. Plus, when I start looking at other brands' models in that price range, the Breitling just doesn't measure up. And then, I go looking at "vintage" Breitling models (how sad is it that Breitling's style circa 2002 is so far removed from their current direction that it actually seems vintage?), for far lower prices, and the current generation really doesn't support its price point, in-house movement or no.

I knew I had seen that font somewhere before. The original Rollerball movie was on last night and sure enough, the dots connected up. Maybe I like it now. :-)

The square on the dial is hideous. The bezel font appalling.

Just my opinion.

I love my Steelfish! What happened to Brietling. Is this an acid trip flash back?

So you're saying that Breitling is the 'B' in B-Movie?

I suppose that's more politically correct than saying Galactic puts the "G" in gay.
