Okay. So here's the deal.

I've been scouting for a new Breitling model since I've regretfully sold my previous models. Now it's come down to two options and I really can't make up my mind, or wallet.

My options are as follows:

1. 2006 Breitling Chronomat Evolution, found here http://breitlingsource.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=39188 which would cost me for $3 330

2. Breitling Super Avenger, brand new from AD, which would cost me $4 600 (retail in Sweden is $6 721).

Since this will be a day-to-day watch I'm really not sure if the SA is worth the extra $1 300. But it's brand new. I've never purchased a pre-owned watch before and I feel that it's a bit scary not knowing whether it's been serviced before.

Plus. Nothing can beat the look and feel of a brand new Breitling-box.

Of course it's your watch and your choice, but since you're asking our opinions I'd choose an Evo over an S.A every time. I think it's a more versatile, classy watch; a Breitling classic. It strikes me however that you could do better than 3.3k for a 6 yr old Evo. Usually for that money you're getting a much younger one (often still inside warranty). I'd wait until the right one came along.

I appreciate all opinions so thanks!

In Europe however it's difficult to find any newer models. There are two Evo's for sale that match the one I'm looking at and they're the same age and are priced at around $5 200 each. Not selling though but they've received offers for about $3 700.

If I were in the US I could pick one up at around $2 700 - $3 000 but not here. Ordering from the US isn't really an option either since custom duties and taxes would increase the price by 30% so with all that in mind the prices are somewhat reasonable.

I have an Evo with a silver face and I love it. As its a silver face you can pretty much swap and choose any leather strap combo you like and it still looks good. I have mine on an Alligator strap just now (see here for a picture viewtopic.php?f=29&t=39210)

There are also 60+ Evo's for sale on eBay within the European Union and a vast range of prices. Id have a look there first to gauge prices in general. And as Sweden is a member of the European Union, you can purchase from anywhere in Europe without having to pay additional taxes :cheer:

If you find something you like on eBay, just post the link in the forum and a few members will validate it for you to ensure its not a fake.

At the end of the day watch choice is personal to you.

Since I'm not a frequent Ebay:er. Could you please PM me a link to where these 60+ items are. I've searched through Ebay but I can't seem to find more than 53 results.

Type in chronomat in the main search, then look on the left side of the page for Worldwide where it will also give an option for European Union. Select that and should show all listings.

Yeah but I'm not looking for a Chronomat. I'm after a Chronomat Evolution. :)

EDIT: I have one of those in scope. Just trying to make up my mind on it.

Well that was in the context of finding them in Sweden. :)

We have a site called Blocket.se which is a great place for private/company ads. And the ones listed there that match my criteria, A13356 S/S bracelet, are advertised for around $5 200. I hope this clarifies the ordeal.

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I was looking at a similar EVO over the past weekend. I obviously don't have the touch as I cannot get the AD to go below 3500.00. I have been reading this thread and an earlier one from Grenhall last week concerning pricing on this watch. The AD is 20 minutes from my house and I am trying to factor that into pricing/convenience. All papers and service. Thanks for all the help on pricing/purchasing my first Breitling.

You don't have to apologize. This forum is for everyone and since your question fits the thread why not ask instead of creating a new post. Is that Evo you're looking at brand new or pre-owned?

I've made up my mind. I'll buy the Evo and if I change my mind I'd be able to sell it and regain my money here in Sweden. If FedEx do their job I'll have it before the weekend!

Hi Grenhall,

Sorry for the late reply (work got in the way!)

As Time Bandit mentioned you can set the search to look for items located in the EU. Here is a link I ran just before I posted this reply> http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?LH_Pre ... p=15&_sc=1

There are 63 results, but a few of them are accessories rather than actual watches. The actual number of watches comes to 46. The cheapest is listed at £1874 plus shipping (about $3000 US)

Good luck with the hunt (the best part of looking for a new watch  )

You trying to get my watch? Just kidding. It is preowned. Exact same watch. I went looking this past week and that was one of two watches I was looking for and imagine my surprise when I see both watches in the same store. The BB was brand new. Your price is lower. It's a beautiful watch. Good luck.
