Hi, Would you go swimming with a watch rated at 100 metres? More specifically, would you take the Transocean chrono into the ocean for a gentle swim? Spending a few days on the beach and the Breitlings are getting jellous of the Omega Seamaster that is stealing all the wrist time. Besides it would be nice to have a Breitling on the wrist to go with the Breitling hat on the head  Greetings to all from sunny Kenting in the south of Taiwan. Wessa |

I think we've talked about this before. I wouldn't because of the consequences of something going wrong. It's not be very likely that the watch will take on water but the consequences would be terrible. And for what; the chance to wear the T/O to the beach? I'd leave it nice and safe at home and wear it to dinner. |

Technically it will be fine for surface swimming, but while I am not an avid swimmer I have never found myself in a situation where I have desperately needed to know the time while surface swimming so why bother. It's not a dive watch so can't be a practical in water tool so leave it on shore. |

OK, the TOC is NOT going swiming. However hypothetically if it did and it suffered from water damage, what would Breitling's take be on this? It is 3 months old, under warranty and rated at 100 meters for whatever it is worth. As I said, hypothetically. Cheers, Wessa. |

Breitling would pressure test it to 10 atmospheres (equivalent to 100m of static water pressure). If it passed then they would deny your warranty claim and make you pay for repairs, if it failed then they would cover the damage under warranty. |

Or Darth Vader in the re-re-tooled Return of the Jedi (Blu-ray version)? Per the OP, I second the recommendations here, which is irrelevant, since you seem to have taken them to heart already. Good decision Wessa. There's no way I'm getting wet while wearing my TOC. Of course, you have a lot more watches than I do -- you can afford to drown one...

I generally won't hop in the water with it unless its rated 200m or more. All mine are rated 300m or higher. Am I being paraniod? Or is that a good practice since we do tend to swim in the water as opposed to sitting still? |
