Hello,

I'm new to Breitling and currently own an Omega constellation. Nice watch but hardly ever wear it as it is to dressy/thin for me.

With that said I do really really like the look of most Breitling watches. Been looking around and saw this add and did get me thinking...

I know it does not have papers and box and is risky. Any way of being able to tell if it is authentic?
Any thoughts?

I'd offer to meet at a mutual AD for inspection and take it form there...price seems reasonable.

No need. Wait for someone like Roffensian, or bnewbie, or one of the others to comment - they know more than the dealers.

My opinion is real - wait for one of the others to comment though.

Thanks and yes I will wait and that is one of the main reason why I posted here, the best and most knowledge information does come from sites just like this.

Good sites/forums have made a big difference for me in the past as well. I want to be armed with as much info before I meet with the seller next Friday. An AD is a good place to meet and do have one i mind but with that said they will not compare to what I can get from some some of the members on this site...

You should factor in the cost of a service ($280) into the price since one is now due.

It's real, quartz and 38mm.
Replacing the crystal is way more than $60 afaik.

Yeah that. More like $220 for sapphire crystal. I just got one for a 39mm chronomat.

I paid $180 to replace the crystal for my Colt Ocean as part of a complete overhaul.

As said, it's real. I think that you need to realistically factor in the cost of a full service - say about $400 for quartz including the hands, plus the crystal - you'll end up with a like new watch for about $1,600 or so.

WOW thanks guys! I greatly appreciate all your thoughts and input. Also very comforting to see you all agree on it being real, something I would not be able to do on my own :bow:

Did not give a service any thought, will factor that in if I make him an offer. If it looks as good as the pictures I may just offer $700 or so to give me the room to take proper care of it right from the start.

OK so I have read up on a few things including servicing the watch.

Even if I can get the watch for a bit less than asking price (say $700 or so) and once service/crystal replacement are complete the bottom line comes out to 1,300 but the watch w/no papers is it still worth it in your opinion? Not sure how much that effects the value. I'm not one to sell my watche but you never know...

I do like the look of the black dial Colt and the only thing I would rather have is an automatic version but that's not the end of the world.

With that said I'm scheduled to see it this Friday and as bad as I want one (and eventually will own a Breitling) if it makes sence to wait for a better deal or watch I will.

I don't comment on pricing, but others may - sold items on eBay are a good reference and Chrono24 will show delaer asking prices.

It really comes down to how badly you want this watch - it sounds a little bit like a compromise for you so maybe better off wiating for waht you really want????

I understand and thanks again for your toughts. I have been know to get a little impatient at times...I work on keeping that in check. OK I will probably wait unless it's too good of a deal for me to pass on, at this point trying to gain as much knowledge as possible prior to seeing it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but what I can read between the lines you would rather have a mechanical automatic.
That being the case, I would recommend not to go for this one uness it REALLY does not make a difference to you whether it is quartz or mechanical.
I fully understand wanting to pull the trigger just because an oportunity seems to be right in front of you. It is called impulse buying. Mrs. Wessa is extremely gifted when it comes to impulse buying ;-)

Anyway, with a bit of patience, it is quite possible to pick up a mechanical Colt for around a grand. Even if you need to get it fully serviced it will still end up under 1.5K and will look like brand new.

But that is only my take on this.
