Decided to make one more trip and sleep on my avenger vs. super avenger predicament before making a final decision. I think I'm going with the super avenger with the all black face. I already have a beater techno marine that I think looks kind of similar to the regular avenger (at least the face sort of does) with black dial and silver sub dials. I have posted pics of all below. Let me know your thoughts!

I'm impartial to the SA as I have that exact model, and I agree that the Avenger does look similar to your Technomarine.

I'll go into the wind on this one and say the SA looks too big on your wrist. Lugs are hanging off the edge. It's obviously your $$$ that you're spending but for mine I'd go with the avenger.

I definitely see what you guys are saying, and to me looking at the pics I would say the same thing. For some reason though in person it looked like a good fit though. I'm not sure if it's the camera angle or what, i've included some pics taken at a distance…

Certainly not being all butch and big-wristed on ya myself - I have a Colt Quartz principally because it's the smallest B/ling and I can't carry off anything much larger!

Super Avenger all the way. The bezel is much nicer on the SA than the avenger.

+2. No matter how nice a watch is, if the lugs overhang the wrists creating a "V" effect with the bracelet, it will always look awkward.

As for the Avenger looking like that Techno-marine thing just because of the white subs? Yeah, don't see anyone confusing the appearance of those two. They make the Avenger without white sub dials ya know.

The super avenger looks a little big on anyone's wrist minus an NFL lineman. That's the whole point. It's how you carry the monstrosity that matters. Get what YOU want.

I don't think the SA looks too big on you. I think "proper fit" has evolved, it had to given the increase in watch sizes over the past couple decades. A 43mm is probably too big for me according to the rules but I love my Transocean chrono. Buy the watch you'll enjoy the most.

I have to disagree - except with the part about getting what you want.

A 7&1/2" wrist can usually carry an SA without it looking silly big and that ain't lineman size. The SA is supposed to look big for sure. And it will look blingy on any size wrist as will the Avenger, but blingy is a different matter. A watch can be objectively too large for certain wrists ( like where the lug ends over hang the edges of the wrist and the lugs plus bracelet leave large gaps until the bracelet finally catches up with the lower sides of the wrist) and when it is, it doesn't just look large and blingy, it looks down right silly and blingy.

This one looks right on the edge. But it is hard to tell from close up pics because they always make the watch look larger on the wrist than it really is. A good AD will sacrifice a sale by being honest about the size fit - I've experienced that. A bad AD will lie - I've experienced that as well. A great AD will let you try out the watch for a week and bring it back to exchange for the correct fit. I've experienced that too. It ought not have to be a permanent choice if you have the right AD.

The fact that you are trying to justify the SA means your mind is already set on it so just go with it.

And remember that this forum is great for Breitling knowledge and information, but it is filled with many old timers who still prefer the sub 40mm dials and can't understand the trend of bigger watches.

It is? When did that change, I was only gone for about half an hour :huh

rss723, the only perspective that matters is yours. Personally I think that it may look a little large, but if you feel that it looks OK then nothing else matters. For the record I wear watches that are below 40mm and watches that are above 50mm on my 7 3/4" wrist - and I don't give two hoots what anyone else thinks about too big / too small.
