I went into the AD to check out the colour of the "Mercury Silver' dial, and didn't really like it. I guess the Montbrilliant 01 LE is out of the question.

But I found something that really stuck a chord with me. A Superocean 42, Abyss Silver on a DP II.

I almost traded in my Colt Auto II on the spot for it.

Normally I hate the date wheel contrasting with the dial colour, but I found the white date wheel was similar in colour to the Abyss Silver chapter ring and it all just worked.

So did anyone buy a coloured model, yellow perhaps and later regret it?

I am thinking, this weekend I will go back and do up the deal... unless you all stop me!

Edit: Carl has me thinking a trip to the Omega boutique would be in order before I snap up a piece this weekend(ideally).

I bought the yellow and sold it, but can't say I regretted it per se. I just wasn't all over yellow, I guess. The one I have now, the all black, I still like.

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being love it, how do you feel about the contrast of the white date wheel on what is otherwise a black dial and bezel...

What strap do you have on it as well please Shark...

White date wheels don't trouble me at all.

Pro II bracelet and a DPII with deploy. Oddly, I find I prefer it on the bracelet.

I have the yellow one. I loved it at first, then I wished I went with the all black, then I went back to liking the yellow. White date wheels dont bother me either. Its one of those things that would have never even crossed my mind if it weren't for people always mentioning it here. I really never wear it any more, but considering that I bought it as a sort of a pool/beach/beater type watch, I think the dial color was a good choice.

Thanks Shark,

RJ, what do you wear for a beater if this is not seeing much rotation?

This would be my daily, except for the odd time I would leave it in the car on site if I thought it would be at a high risk for damage that day.

Got the black, then swapped the black for an orange dial last service. 300 smackers on top of regular service costs.

If I wear a beater its a gshock. Thats pretty much to the gym or if there is a high risk of damage. The SO was more for if im going out of town and I want to bring a nice, robust watch, but one that wasnt TOO expensive in case anything happened to it.

If youre going for an everyday wearer, I think silver or black would be your best choices.

I'm thinking silver. Anyone happen to have gone that way or is black the best bet? On the build your breitling the colour of the chapter ring is black, but doesn't match the dial. In person, does it match?

Thanks Tman, I really like the silver, but I'm concerned I will regret not having it all black. That's really my style. Worst case as mentioned above, I can change the dial.

Man IMO this is one of those pieces that the more you look at the more it looks pretty good... I think it also offers really good value as well... but as a keeper I would agree with a lot of the members and take one only in silver or black.

I put a deposit down today on a Black one. Well actually, I traded in my Colt Auto II in silver, for $400 credit. Ah well.
