The Breitling Watch Source Forums

Hello forum, I've got my eye on a Breitling Pluton A51038 that is in excellent condition. I've been looking for a Chronosport UDT for some time now, but after purchasing a Chronomat A13352 I'm a Breitling fan! I realize it's not an automatic movement, but aside from that, are there any thoughts on this watch from those who have one?

I don't know of anyone else on here with that particular model. Did a quick google search and I can see they sell for the $650-750 range. If you are planning on purchasing one, you might want to look into service history and when it's due as that can be a big hit in what it costs you for ownership.

I think there are a couple of Pluton owners around here, certainly not that many.

It's not my taste, but nothing 'wrong' with it. The only word of caution would be that as a 15 year old quartz watch you are getting close to end of life for spares / replacement movements, etc. The problem with quartz watches is that if they go wrong after Breitling stops providing spares they are effectively dead. Breitling may offer you a credit against a new buy, but the watch won't be recoverable.

I don't think that the Pluton is there yet, but you need to realize that you likely aren't buying a watch that will last 25 years.

I have a Pluton Team 60 LE, and LOVE it. It's my everyday Breitling.
I sent it to BUSA last year and they replaced the dial, the hands and all the pushers. They Also put a new Pro I bracelet on it. It came back gleaming like a new watch. Not a cheap service at $575 but worth every penny in my opinion.

A lot depends on the cost of the Pluton you have seen. If the price is reasonable, then go for it.
