I just walked out of a meeting, and it's started again. I've owned my new (to me) Fighters for three business days now and each day I have caught somebody staring at it. The last time this happened was...when I owned my last Navitimer, the white-dialed Heritage I sold when I had a bit of a sell-off last fall. (Free plug--one's listed for sale now on this board) I haven't owned nearly as many varieties of watches as some here, but I have owned quite a few, and the Navitimer is consistently the one which gets noticed. People, particularly women, openly commented on my old Heritage, and I suspect it's only a matter of time with this one, though I chose this one to be just a little more subdued. The WIS folks and boutique owners were all over my Breguet XXI when I owned it, but for everybody else, the Navi seems to be the one.

I agree. Whatever it is about the Navi people just seem to notice it and comment. I find it especially when mine is on its bracelet.

It is very shiny while still sort of classy-ish with the bracelet... You get loads of attention Much more than I'd like to get, which is why I have mine on a black and soon to be JLC-brown strap.

That's why I got the brushed Fighters this time, but it still gets noticed.

Terry: I have posted the new one over on the "what are you wearing" thread, but here it is, driving home:

And here's the old one, which was gorgeous and got a lot of comments.

Thanks for pic Scott - the old Navitimer II type dial with quick-set date, nice! But, really wanted to see the case back, :D . Where did you find that one?

Terry--Here's a bad-light flash photo of the back:

Bad phone focus being what it is, I'll give you the aircraft. From the top of the photo, the Curtiss P-40, the Yakovlev YAK 3, the flash-obscured Spitfire Mark IX, the Messerschmitt Bf109, the F4U Corsair, and the P51 Mustang. ( I really need to find my wife's real camera) Some scratching on the back of the case, but the planes are nicely etched.

For those who don't know, this was a watch dedicated to the Breitling-sponsored flying team which flew those planes. I don't know what happened to the team but I'll have to research it.

I got this from my long-time watch guy, a service and pre-owned dealer, who just never gets Navitimers. He's been on the lookout for one for me for years when this one showed up. The day he got it, he called me up.

And, STAY THIRSTY MY FRIENDS!

That's why God made limes.

Do you regret selling the white one Scott? Because that one is crazy... could call it the panda...

I've always preferred the 3-6-9 layout too over 6-9-12s... not important to me but IF I had to choose...

:D I hear you. Only problem is I like and can drink most other Mexican beers without limes... Corona, Pacifico, Modelo, etc.

Oh and on a side note Sharkman, my seven year old daughter happened upon me when I was reading a thread with one of your post and she spots your signature right away and says, "oh look at the kitty...and what are those other things doing?" After I stopped laughing I explained to her matter of factly what it meant and she said "oh", and walked away.

jlee--I did regret selling it, only did because I was in cash mode at the time, due to a triple whammy of expenses, one totally unexpected. The watch had serious wrist presence, since the Heritage is 43mm, in white including the slide rule ring, plus that model has an integrated bracelet. If I'd kept it, I would have likely had a band custom-made. I liked that it was a flyback as well, though that movement ran a little less smoothly than a valjoux 7750. My only issue with the watch was a personal use issue; for me it was a little showy to wear on the weekends and my tastes were moving just a little smaller.

When I rebuilt my collection (still in progress) I upgraded my sold GMT Master to a Yacht-Master, and that provided plenty of bling for me. I did have a dilemma though when as I was just about to buy mine, a white dial Heritage came up on the sale board, apparently in town no less, and just back from service. I had essentially committed to the Fighters, so I bought it. Also, I thought it might be a little more versatile, and the Old Navitimer style is what drew me to Breitling in the first place, and I had never owned one.

I haven't seen that the Heritage on the boards has sold or traded yet. I'm still in recoupment mode but I have still thought about it, oh, a few times. Actually, somebody please check it out, because I need to not think about it.
