Yes, you did read it correctly.
Popped into my local AD yesterday and he told me that Breitling UK have announced a price reduction of 10% from 1st March 2012.
He says that it is due to recovery of the pound vs. swiss franc and to adjust prices in line with other markets.
Might hold off a few days then before making another purchase then but then again, have to see what's new once Basel pieces are announced.

Breitling have done a number of country specific reductions in the last few years, it's basically intended to ensure that prices remain approximately consistent with major currency moves. Good news for our UK members!

It is good news. After all the increases recently, nice to see it going the other way for a change

Nick.

Remember that Breitling sells to ADs and ADs are contractually committed to buy a minimum number of pieces from Breitling - if sales are declining for ADs then Breitling themselves (who set the prices) are largely immune - at least in short term.

Anyone know if this price reduction will be on just the watches themselves or also on accessories as I'm just about to order a croc strap and deployant - worth waiting a few days ?.

Hmm maybe someone from one of our UK AD's will chime in. I wonder how that effects AD profit margins? Does Breitling give them credit back for the 10% difference on currently owned pieces, or is it just washed out with their future inventory take downs? Hope that made sense...it's early and I haven't had my coffee yet.

As far as I know it's the same as an increase - future purchases from the mothership only.

It's currency related so all that you need to do to get it is have the US$ gain 10+% against the Swiss Franc.

....and I don't see signs of that happening in the near future

It has, in fact, happened. 8) Comparing the lows from August 2011, the USD has risen 24% against the CHF vs the GBP's 22%. Whether that translates to a price reduction is up to Breitling, I guess, but the currency argument would support this. Hope this helps.
