of this Breitling SO Abyss when compared to the Steelfish? Does it look the same to you? If anyone owns the Abyss does the watch wear like a big, normal or small 42mm? My concern is the large bezel and inner chapter ring. Your help would be appreciated. I used to own a Superocean which was a very small 42mm and I don't want to make that mistake again.

It wears like a 42mm watch. The case is the same as the SO Pro that preceded it. Exactly the same. I had the yellow abyss and the colored chapter ring made it seem smaller than my SO Pro. But the all black SOII I have now wears larger, but about the same as the SO Pro.

Thanks for the information. So It wouldn't look like the Superocean which really looked small, I mean really small. I only have 7" wrists but they are flat and wide and with the older version of the SO it really was a small watch on my wrist. That's what really worries me about pulling the trigger.

I like mine, I got a 8 inch wrist and don't take out any links, I prefer it a little loose.

Thanks, I'm just wondering if the inner red chapter ring makes the dial look smaller. The one I'm looking at is on rubber, I wish it was on the Pro II. I just worry that I'll end up having to sell it if it looks like the SO I owned on the wrist, it wore like a 40mm watch. Had that watch been 2 or 3mm bigger it may have worked, but it has such a wide bezel that it detracts from the rest of the watch, especially the dial. I actually loved the dial on the older SO with the Arabic numerals.
But I guess that's my biggest concern, it has a big bezel and a big inner chapter ring and the dial does look on the small side. Or am I worrying about nothing?

So I guess I'm screwed then, if it's exactly the same as the SO Pro there is no way that I will be happy with the size. I swear that watch wore like a 40mm.

I have the last of the Superocean Pros and to me it's the perfect size at 42mm. I love the balance of the bezel and face. The earlier Superoceans were 41mm I believe, I don't know which you had before. Why don't you just get the 44mm Steelfish? It sounds like 42 is just smaller than you like.

I own both the Abyss and the SF. The Abyss I have has a sliver chapter ring, and definitly wears smaller than the 'fish. However, I prefer the size of it over the SF.

A member at another forum did a side by side shot for me with a 40mm beside the SO and it does look like it's on the small side for me. I did own a SF but the dial lay out didn't do it for me. I love the look of the SO Pro dial, it it was on the SF I would have kept it.

I've had both these watches in the last year or so, there is a real difference between them in my view, the Abyss feels smaller than it's 42mm size and offers far less traditional Breitling quality than the Steelfish, whereas the SOSF always looks and feels the part. The other point I see is, the Abyss is one of those watches that always looks better in photographs than it does in real life.
