This might be a stupid question but I have a brand new Navitimer Montbrillant and when you gently shake the watch it sounds like something loose is rattling around, is that normal? I wasn't sure if this was the moving parts? Iain |

First automatic watch? That's probably the rotor spinning you're feeling. It's a normal function to wind the watch. |

There are two possible sounds: One rotating (You can normaly feel the rotating mass, not only hear it!) and one, like a screw falling around. The first one is normal, the second one is a matter of warranty... BG Thomas |

Thanks guys. Yes, it is my first automatic watch. I haven't actually worn the watch yet so I will wind it up and see. |

OP: many who have owned automatics over the years find the 'whir' comforting. As stated, it is normal. Enjoy your watch! |

It is perfrctly normal and as much as it is worrying at first you will actually learn to love it and even start missing it when you put a quartz piece on  I have a Chinese auto watch that keeps excellent time, on par with my Breitlings but the rotor makes one hell of a racket. Love it  wessa |

I believe the Montbrilliant is based off of the ETA 7750 which is notorious for rotor wobble. I love it! |

You will get used to it, whilst I love the accuracy of my one quartz watch, the beauty and idiosyncracies of a mechanical watch are just something else! |
