Post subject:  My First Breitling

After much deliberation and trying on various models I finally became the proud owner of a new Blackbird on Saturday, purchase at the AD in Selfridges in London. This was a gift from my fiancee for our forthcoming wedding so already has huge sentimental value.

I looked at and liked a Chronomat with black face and Roman numerals and a black faced Skyracer, but in the end the Blackbird was a clear winner. It is a beautiful piece, chunky without being too obvious, and I love the symmetry of the face with the double roll date at the top.

I'll upload pics as soon as I have time to take them. Thanks to all the old hands on this forum who helped to guide me to this choice.

Congrats on both upcoming wedding and the Blackbird (not necessarily in that order  ).

It's a great watch and seems to be getting more and more popular.

Wow, it might be almost worth me getting married if these are the type of presents you can expect! (Almost worth it! )

Great present BTW.

Congrats! My wife bought me a CA for our engagement, only fair right....official engagement time piece.

She had it engraved on the back, I cherish it even more.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts. It was a very generous gift. She seems very happy with the diamond earrings and pendant I have bought for her, so I guess we are both lucky!

Congratulations Chris on the watch and the upcoming marriage. The Blackbird is probably next on my list but I have seen a Crosswind racing that looks rather good.

Post subject:  hey chris!

Chris - Congratulations on both the watch and your forthcoming marriage! I also became the proud owner of a Chronomat Evolution as a graduation present from University Studies. I enjoy it very much, however was unable to wear it yesterday and today because I was doing much labour work and did not want to ruin it. Now I do not know how to set the time agh!

Nonetheless Congrats to you and your wife!!

Enjoy!

kind regards,

nick :D :?

The blackbird is awesome. I wish my local AD had one to play with! I saw one on a recent trip to New York and it was sweet on a Diver Pro strap!

Congrats!

I agree. The Ocean Racer would look great too. I have to say that the S/S bracelet is incredibly comfortable. I've had mine a week and it already feels like an old friend, though I do seem to check the time far more often than I used to!
