Hi guys.I'm purchasing my first Breitling for my 40th birthday next month.I like the look of the Chrono Colt or something similar. With the latest price increase it's now £1780 from an AD.Other than the AD's, does anyone know any reputable dealers where I could pick one up for no more than £1400 as thats my limit.I'd be willing to purchase a used one with all relevant paperwork etc...many thanks in advance. |

You didn't list specifics like type of band etc but take a look at: http://www.authenticwatches.com/286ii.html and then take the price back to your AD they may be willing to work with you. 2,275.00 USD = 1,140.64 GBP |

Thanks in2deep.I did look at authentic watches but don't like the idea of the serial numbers being scrubbed....be a nightmare to sell on if I decide too?.I want a bracelet rather than a strap and rather a UK dealer due to customs issues etc...The AD's over here seem reluctant to budge on price. |

Removed serials will absolutely decrease the resale value - and also make servicing much more difficult. I think you'll find it very difficult to find a UK dealer that'll give you a matching discount. I'd suggest you read andrew's post on Govberg in the feedback section - that might be your solution. And of course, welcome to this insanely nice place! |

I think you should be able to find an AD stateside that can do it for you. Even paying about 22% in total taxes when importing it, you should be able to stay under 1400. And like everybody else, I would NOT recommend buying one with serials removed. btw, did you know that technically speaking, the authorities could confiscate your watch if the serials were removed? Removing them is illegal in the US, and I would imagine so in other countries as well. |
