Post subject: | Scratched Pusher "Lock" on Chronomat Evolution |
I am kicking myself all day today because I scratched my watch, and it's all my fault. I have a Chronomat Evolution and the two pushers of the chronograph are screw down types. If you're familiar with the watch, like most of you probably are, you have to unscrew the pusher before you can actually push the top button to either start the chronograph, or the bottom button to reset it. My top pusher wouldn't unscrew. In other words, I couldn't push the pusher because it was sealed tight from the locking mechanism. So I took matters into my own hands, put a piece of rubber over the pusher screw, and gently tried with a wrench to unlock it. Unfortunately, the teeth of the wrench went through the rubber and scratched the screw down part. What can I do about this? I actual pusher button did not scratch, just the screw down part. How can I go about replacing this part? Do I even have to replace it or can I just have to scratches buffed out somehow? Would it be expensive to replace? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciate. |

Impossible to know if scratches can be buffed out without seeing it, but I doubt it - the texture of the screw down wouldn't really lend itself to that kind of treatment. Take it to an AD and get a quote for replacement, somewhere between $100 and $200 would be my guess. |

I learned the same lesson trying to unscrew my shower head. I felt pretty bad when it happened; I can only imagine how I would have felt had it been my watch. I don't have better advice than what Roff already offered. Good luck getting it fixed. |

It's not worth to spend more $$$ unless you plan to sell the watch. |
