Post subject:  Emergency mission - to buy or not to buy

Hey, first post here and i am hoping you guys can give me some much needed advice.
What i need is actullay more than advice, i want you to put yourself in my shoes and tell me if you would pull the trigger?

I recently came across an emergency mission for sale, blue dial and in pretty god condition, would give it easily a 95%. Thats the pro, here is the con - person selling has no idea what he has, its a pretty elederly gentleman that just wants to get rid of it as it was a gift that he doesnt wear.

He cant find the box, nor the papers - nothing at all, just the watch. To complicate things it has been sitting down in his vault for about a year or so, hence the battery for the super quartz is dead and there is no way of telling if the transmitter battery is dead becaue there is no test kit.

Sounds like a walk away thus far - unless the price is right? I will soon get to that, just want to make another point.
There watch is currently in Jamaica. While there is a dealer here for Breitlings, for it to have the battery changed and checked - it would have to be sent to the US, yes without papers or anything - thats probably going to cost between 500 - 700 dollars.

Now as i said earlier what i want to know is do you walk away or take a risk for 1300?
What would you honestly do?

Thanks in advance.

Well post it here first to make sure that it's not fake, it sounds like a classic story for a fake.

Also, servicing on Emergencies has to be done in Europe, not the US.

real EM whit the revised dial whit the raised wing logo, that was sold only in the last year(s) of the EM, i guess 2007 / 2008

you could get a great bargain here if you lower the price since no box or papers, very important in the EM, and the fact he wants to get rid of it and dont really know what he has

go for it...i would

I know.. I'm amazed... Hopefully if Brenyolds bought the emergency, he at least put in an offer on the case. It would almost complete his set. And maybe he can even get the rest of the paperwork regarding the watch from Breitling to complete his set...

but then again. if he's $1300 in on the watch.. and say $700 as he estimates.. he may not wanna go for the $500 on the case.. That's still a pretty sweet deal for a complete emergency if he's into it for $2500 total.. they've recently been going on the forum here for around 3250
