Im still not a Breitling owner, but will be in the next few months. We are doing some travel in the next few months and therefor I want to find the best prices I can for the piece I am interested in, the Chrono Superocean.

Got in touch with the brand manager of Breitling in Thailand, who gave me the following prices:

Chrono Superocean (bracelet) : THB 160,800 (~£2,400) (~$4,200)
Chrono Colt (bracelet) : THB 113,700 (~£1,700) (~$3,400)
Avenger Seawolf Chrono : THB 169,400 (~£2,550) (~$5,000)
Superocean Heritage Chronograph: THB 184,800 (~£2,800) (~$5,600)

Now these seem much higher than I was expecting from an Asian country, but there you are. Am also visiting Switzerland, but have read that they are not cheap there either.

I think my best option is now to buy it here in the UK, and get the VAT back when I leave the country.

Any thoughts?

I was in Bangkok last week as I am Qantas Aircrew - the store in the Gaysorn Centre near Siam Square has a limited range however they are very expensive, I was also in Hong Kong yesterday and the prices there are not much better - a leather strap in Sydney costs AUS$100 and the same in HKG AUS$250!!!

I'd buy at home like you suggested and try for a 5% discount with cash from a reputable dealer!!

Asia can be dodgy and the popularity of Breitling there has decreased over the last 15 years - it's all about Rolex and Tag these days!

Wow, looks like they are quoting you straight up MSRP prices. My local AD gives discounts in the range of 15-20% (even for first time buyers).

Have you considered buying online?

Cheers for the replies guys. I figured the Thailand prices were RRP prices. Ive decided to go with buying one here in London now. Its where Ive worked and earnt the cash, and it will always remind me of my time here, so it makes sense, even though I know its going to cost me more than I could get it elsewhere.

They are not an authorized breitling dealer are they? Are their watches real Breitlings or fakes? How can they afford to sell so cheap?

They are real but not an authorised dealer, so no warranty. That's why they sell them cheaper.

If you are in the UK try taking a trip out to Bath. I bought my first Breitling from Mallory's and got 10% off for paying cash. Didn't even need to fight for it, and the watch was the only one in the UK at the time.

it is possible to get those prices from an AD if you can negotiate the best discount.. or via a groupbuy

That's possible, though the group buy isn't so tempting for someone out of the US thanks to 20%+ increase thanks to duty paid into the UK.

I go through a Canadian AD and every piece I have acquired has been cheaper than Authentic Watches / Prestige Time / Joma Shop. But that's because I have a relationship with them and am a frequent repeat buyer.

Why then do they advertise 3 yrs warranty?

It's a warranty from them, not a Breitling factory warranty.
