Any tips on loosening the calf leather?

I bought a leather deployant for my Super Avenger in November and it is still quite stiff (I change my straps quite often, so haven't worn it that much).

Problem I have with it is the discomfort caused by pressure on the wrist bone.
I think partly this is because I have small wrists I have to wear the strap tight. If I loosen it up, the weight of the SA just allows to much travel.

just keep wearing it. it is a little tight at first but it will "break in".

It's like new boots...live thru the discomfort and break it in, and it becomes the most comfortable strap to own.
IMHO

For what it's worth, I wasn't overly impressed with the fit at first but decided to adjust it slightly tighter than the norm for a few days to try and "force" the strap to break in and conform to my wrist. I wear my Navitimer World 7 days a week so it didn't take long before it seemed to adopt the bends...after a slight strap adjustment, I found the sweet spot and can now say that it is quite comfortable to wear.

I'm in a dintinct minority of maybe 2 on this site who do not like the Breitling deploy at all. I have tried it and it's a bit too long for the underside of my wrist. The entire setup is too bulky.

It certainly works well for those whose wrist size it is intended, but even there I don't get the notion of a deploy design that requires a couple fairly severe bends to "break in" an additionally thick strap like Breitling OEM.

But on this I stand virtually alone. :idontgetit:

I think I'm the second person. I agree with every thing you said Sharkman. In addition to being too bulky, I don't like that there's a big gap between the wrist and the strap near the deployant. Also, after a day or two, my wrist becomes numb from the deployant digging into my wrist. So I'm on the look out for a good deal on a tang to replace the deployant strap. Although I'm doing a lousy job because it's been about a year of unsuccessful searching so far.

I agree about the severe bend part in Sharky's post. My wrist is just big enough to use the deployant straps but surely Breitling could have come up with a better design that this. I've read that the Omega is more comfortable.

Far from alone, although my wrist is huge compared to yours !
and love your "butterfly" alternative.

I also dislike the breitling deployment buckle! I have one for my (sold) soh 46mm and i never loved it! I wish breitling made a buckle like IWC! That one i really love!

Just to make sure this is clear as mud for you; I have small wrists, wore one on my Navi World and LOVED it! Once it was broken in it felt like it was made for me and was really fun to lock on my wrist.

I should share that I tend to wear my watches a bit snug compared to most and prefer them more secure on my wrist. You might give it a bit of time and see how it forms to your wrist before passing judgement.

I've ordered the same rig to go on my TOC as an option to the ocean classic. Nothing I've owned since has felt as nice to wear as the calf deployment. ...maybe now I'm in the minority. :D

I'm in your camp, with the disclaimer that I have not actually worn one. However, in studying the design, and comparing it to other deployment clasps used with straps, Breitling's just looks unwieldy and potentially uncomfortable, the chief culprit being the "bend" you mentioned. Other designs where the strap can pass straight into the clasp seem much more sensible. Breitling's clasp design has put me off wanting to acquire one.

I definitely concur. Even though I have to admit, as others said, that the buckle is a bit tight compared to the one on rubber even after quite sometime. But the deployant has so many advantages over the tang that it's a no brainer for me.

I can't stand tang buckles - a pain putting on and even worse trying to strap it on a winder cuff. But their are ways to use a tang that exclude the tang buckle.

I didn't mean to start a debate and fall back to my original statement - these seems to work well and be very useful to most Breitling buyers. Just not some of us.

I wear a alligator deployant on my B1 and I like it a lot. I have a small wrist but found that after a small break-in period it felt great. It tends not to slide down my wrist like the bracelet does. Give it some time.

Not being used to leather bands I found mine uncomfortable at first but after a couple of weeks its become even more comfortable than my TAG Carrera on the S/S band, which I thought was perfect. The whole set up is a bit thick on the underside, but I got used to that very quickly. I'm even lloking at getting a replica deployment for the TAG...
