I've got 2 Headwinds - one is the black dial on the SS case and the other is the champagne dial on the SS case with gold riders and crown. The black dial went in for a service a couple of years ago and came back with brushed silver hands. The champagne dial one has just come back from service and has returned with shiny gold hands with a horizontal seperation line across the hour hand. When it went in there was definately no seperation line on the hour hand. Truth to tell can't remember if hands were brushed or not - didn't think so though... I've spoken to BUK and they have said that it the watchmakers choice which hands go on and they usually decide whether shiny or brushed finish depending on the case finish (both have shiny cases but brushed bezels). They also indicated that the brushed hands do not have the seperation line on the hour hand but shiny ones do..... Are they having me on? Ideally I'd like shiny hands on both and no seperation line on the hour hand but don't know if this is possible.... What is that line on the hour hand for for? Pics below..... Thanks chaps! ![]() ![]() |

They probably run out of original Headwind hands. |

I under the impression when you send in your Breitling for its annual service they make changes to your piece to bring it up to current version as long as its not a vintage piece. Just what I've heard . Don't know if the truth or not, sounds good though. |

Might be wrong but hands with lume partions are SL those without may be old tritinum hands |

On the dial -- I agree but I've seen breitlings with factory tritinum hands on watches into the mid 1990s with sl dials none have partitions. but considering both sets have been replaced my theory is out. |
