My father recently gave me a shotgun that he has had since I was a very young boy. It is a Semi-automatic Belgium made Browning Light 12 gauge. It is in excellent condition and also comes with an extra barrel and also the booklet and wooden plug. I was just wanting to get some thoughts on whether you would sell the gun to purchase a white dial super avenger or keep the gun. I don't hunt much anymore. I think also that if I were to buy the watch I would get better use out of it than the gun. I know that I would never sell the watch once I purchased it. I doubt the gun would cover the full cost of the watch, probably about half. But I do know that I would always credit my father for the purchase. Thoughts please......? |

I think you answered your own question. You don't seem to feel much attachment for the gun, or have much use for it. On the other hand, you seem to value the watch. I'd expect you have other things to better remember your father by. Or, if not, it's not necessarily important to have stuff for that. |

Keep the gun. It'a a quality piece that will go up in value. You don't have to kill anything to enjoy guns. It will also mean more to you down the road. |

Use the gun to get the watch (use your imagination.). Haha kidding. But in all honesty I would keep the gun because your father gave it to you (and it must've meant something to him if he's kept it this long) and save for the watch. I would be sad if I had a son and he sold the gun I gave him to get something else. Just my thought. |

 There are a lot of SAs on the market for sale and will be for a long time. What are the odds of getting your father's gun back if you sell it to fund a watch? |

I appreciate the comments. I plan to keep the gun especially after speaking with a golf buddy today. Guns are down in value right now and also I don't really NEED the watch right now. I have a steelfish and a chrono cockpit that I can wear. I will just save. A couple comments really hit home. Especially about getting my father's gun back.........thank you. Once again thanks for the comments. And who knows, maybe my daughter will have a boy someday that I can give it too. Once again, thanks. |

Greetings! I've been lurking awhile and thought I would just add that I think you have made a wise choice to keep the shotgun. It has sentimental value that cannot be replaced (regardless of it's price on the market) and which the watch would not have. As for passing it along, maybe your daughter herself may appreciate it some future day! |

That's funny you say that. I recently shot clay pigeons for the first time with her. I am a very good shot. She at first could not hit anything. I told her not to worry she will get the hang of it. She said how do you figure? I looked at her and said, because, you're my daughter. Once I told her to "lead" the target, she immediately started doing just that. Once she started hitting them she hardly missed anymore. She absolutely loved it. Then we brought the SKS out. She was like, why didn't you get me THIS for Christmas? I couldn't believe it. She loves shooting guns. So maybe you're right. Maybe she will want it someday. Thanks! For some reason that didn't enter my mind. Hmmmm.......

Are you for real?? Guns dont kill people-Bullets fired from guns by people, kill people. My rifle sits in the "weapons cabinet" catching dust (waiting to kill someone). My Breithlings also tell the date/stop watch etc. I broke my leg on Thursday at the skate park while wearing my Seawolf. It also has killer looks.  I want to warn everyone these are dangerous watches. BEWARE!! |
