The instructions that came with my Chronomat Calibre 13 came with the strong admonishment to NOT change the time and/or date between the hours of 8pm and 3am. I have seen the same warning several times in various posts on this site.

As I am a complete novice re. watch mechanical movements, I am left to wonder why not?

Can someone please explain this for me?

Thank you in advance.

There are MANY threads about this in the forum. Try the search box in the top right. The short of it is, you can turn the hands clockwise at any time whatsoever. Do not change the date OR move the hands backwards during 8pm - 3am. This includes turning the hands backwards into the "danger zone" of 8pm -3am. It is a slow process when the date change goes into effect and it starts around 8pm, turning the hands backwards or advancing the date can damage the gears involved with the process.

I'll also just point out that 8pm - 3am means the time showing on the watch, not the actual time of the day. Believe it or not, there are people who do not understand this.
