This is my first Breitling and while I love the watch and have for a number of years the lume is just pitiful. Wondered if it bothered anyone else and if they went to the trouble of fixing what should have been done right in the first place. Ohh btw hello all newbie here ![]() My Seawolf ![]() ![]() Lume without adjusting shutter speed ![]() |

Well may be what your used to. All my other dive watches glow like torches which is not needed but if I wake up at 5am in the dark I want to glance at my wrist to see the time not squint and stare to try and figure it out which is the case at present. One of my other dive watches costing about 1/8th the price ![]() ![]() |

You just need to give it a good charge and it will last all night. Breitling is known for pretty good lume. Some far less expensive watches are known for even better - torching lume. I've always thought that was an inexpensive and unecessary add on for cheaper brands to get more sales. I had the Seawolf and with a full charge - 20 seconds with a $5 UV flashlight, I could still see it in the morning. It may not glow as bright to start, but you also don't get the massive drop off as you do with some of the $800 pieces with blinding lume. Heck, even my Navi, which is about as low on the Breitling lume ladder as they get, is still easily readable in the dark at 5am. And of course that's the key - in the dark. My Omega Seamaster glows like a motherf#### after the initial charge. It drops of steeply and quickly. Yet like the Breitling, it has a light yellowish glow by 4 or 5am, still readable. I had a Benarus -under $1,000 - that could to retina damage! Still, it had an amzingly steep brightness drop off. Maybe it was brighter than my Rolex, Omega, Breitlings, IWCs, etc.. after several hours, but not much. I'd give it time to get used to it, rather than have someone pull it apart and redo a factory lume. Just remember, intial brightness of the lume does not equate to overall quality. It's often quite the opposite. |

I sleep with my watch on and its lume is sufficient every night often times through to the morning when I wake. I do nothing special and it glows much brighter than the picture posted. In the pic you can't even see the hands, my second hand glows like hell. Is this a fresh purchase? Or is this a seasoned piece? |

It shouldn't matter if it is older with Superluminova. Likely it is the picture itself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Its about 6 months old and that pic was after about 10mins outside in full daylight with my droid. Looks much brighter if I pull out the good camera but that cause I can drop the shutter speed way way down. I do not have great eyes either so its part of the issue but at 3am I could read anything this morning. the other watch posted was a Armida A1 699.99... Glows off single charge 10hrs and glows fairly bright. it does drop off quickly from the torch like initially charge but it glows harder 10hours later than my Seawolf glows right out the gate. Lumes just a thing with me and either I fix it or I will end up parting ways I just know how I am lol. Think it bugs me more considering this is the pinnacle of the Breitling dive watch chain that the lume is so sub standard. To me lume is just a basic function of any dive watch and there is a anticancer bar level that should be expected by any real pro diver which this watch is. Love the watch to death but it just irks me to death as well. Maybe I expect to much but if Omega,Rolex,Doxa,Azimuth etc can do it I am sure Breitling can its just odd that they don't. |
