I haven't worn my less then 4 month old super avenger for a while. I tried winding and setting the watch yesterday and the date wheel got stuck. I waiting until the next day to see if the wheel would change itself which it did. I then tried changing it again and nothing happened for about 10 seconds when finally it stared to turn. Now my date wheel changes but does this around 4am.

Is this a common defect? I'm going to call Breitling tomorrow. I'm from Toronto, anyone have any experience on sending a watch out for the same fix? How long am I going to be without my SA? This is a bummer, first problem I've ever had with a Breitling.

I think something is definitely wrong; I can't say I've heard about any defect like this for SA's. Is there a chance you at some point quick-changed the date in the "danger zone"? Was the watch purchased new? Given it's less than 4 months old, I'd expect so, but it's worth knowing, as a previous owner could have damaged the date mechanism.

I can only speak for my experience with BUSA, but I'd estimate you'll be without a watch for about a month. As Roff lives in Canada, hopefully he'll chime in and be able to give you a better estimate.

It's certainly not a common defect at all. As Bozman said - did you attempt to set the date with the quickset function between the hours of 8pm and 3am? If so, that may be the cause of your problem. If not, it sounds like a cog may have jumped a few teeth for some reason. Either way it's a trip back to Breitling.

If you have valid warranty (which you should on a 4 month old watch) it will be a fairly swift turnaround time - a few weeks. If not then it'll be nearer 12.

Yes I do have full warranty as I bought it new from an AD. That's definitely what happened! I must have tinkered with the date between that time. Is it serious or an easy fix?

It's going to need to be sent away. Fairly straightforward fix in that it's just wheel replacement and relubrication, but still effectively a service. Just hope that they don't deny warranty coverage for misuse!

True, a rookie mistake but I can't even say that's for sure the problem. I don't remember changing the date at that time but I definitely could have. I'm planning on wearing it this weekend but I'll call them on Monday and see what they can do.

Thanks for the help!
