Hi, I'm planing a trip to London and Paris this year, and since it will most likely be on summer, our watches will be exposed to anyone to see them... And an Avenger Skyland is not a discreet watch.
So, is it safe to go out sightseeing around with the watch on the wrist? Or should I keep them in the hotel?
Just to clarify, I live in Japan and here you can walk anywhere with any kind of expensive accessories and nobody will mess with you, but I heard some stories about those cities in Europe, so I wanted to ask... Any suggestions?

I'd say safer on the wrist than left in a hotel room.

I think the alternative would be the hotel safe.

As long as you're sensible, stay in decent hotels and don't go to dodgy bars in dodgy areas at night you should be perfectly fine.

I wore my CSO in 10 different cities of Europe, in Egypt, in Syria and Lebanon. Never had a problem.

I wore a Skyland to both those cities a couple of months ago. No problemo.

I personally would wear mine, just got to keep your wits about you and stay away from dodgy scenarios

Sorry to hijack the thread... it raises a qn for me of how many watched you guys travel with. I tend to take all 5 that i own because I'm usually staying in safe places and i have a good travel box. But they're not actually insured outside of my house. Do you guys tend to take only one or two or a whole swag?

Five!!! I just take one for the wrist.

As for the OP, you are more likely to get jacked for a pack of clove cigarettes in Paris than a watch.

I take my entire watch box with me along with my two quad watch winders, breitling pens, swiss army knifes, repair kit in the event that I need to take a link out etc., and extra straps & deployments...never know when you will want to swap out a rubber for croc or vice versa. I see no problem lugging around 8 watches with all the googies when I go on holiday...or as us normal people call it vacation. :poke:

Oh no!!!!! Please lets not go down that road again. The count hasn't been around lately and I'd love to keep it that way because I don't wanna get banned, i've been good.

Aww, I didn't use his name! But the kidnapping thing was one of the more memorably off moments in BS history. Right behind my THREE "I'm out" for sales threads.

Seriously, to come back to OPs question, i'd like to add that both these cities contain more people who wear nice watches than most cities in America.

If you don't know watches, most people can't tell your watch is worth 5k.

And to answer Novacastrian, i only travel with one watch.

Wouldn't worry about it.

Speaking of hotel safes, are you guys talking about the in-suite small safe or going to the concierge to put it in the big safe? Cause in the suite, I always felt that my locked suitcase is a much safer place.

As to number of watches, for trips 3 days or less, 1 watch. Up to 5 days 1+1 G-Shock beater. Up to 2 weeks, 2+1 beater. More than 2 weeks I'll probably come back with 1 more watch than I left with.. :D
