Post subject:  Chrono Superocean Help

Yesterday afternoon I bought my first Breitling, a steel Chrono Superocean with a black face. The store where I bought it set the date and the time on the watch and wound it up, never explaining to me how any of the crowns work. I was wondering if someone could explain to me the three crowns and how they work and interact, and what I should NOT do so I don't hurt the watch. Thanks.

Didn't you get a small yellow guide book with your watch? You should have got it!

No. My watch came in a big yellow and black box, inside was the black Breitling box with the leather case inside. As far as papers, I have an official registration card, a yellow booklet with the warranty certificate, a large yellow proof of authenticity (I'm guessing since I don't speak French-Swiss) and I walked out wearing my watch. I'm guessing they left out a booklet that explains how to work the watch? Anyway the two smaller crowns can be unscrewed and work as a stop watch, and the larger one manages setting the date and time, and can be used to wind the watch. I did change the date last night at like 1am but I think the watch thought it was 1pm, does anyone know if I might have damaged the watch and if I did how I would know? It seems to be working perfectly now. Thanks.

When you pull out the crown to the first position, the function allows you to wind (clockwise), the second position enables you to change the day/date by either moving it closewise or counter-clockwise. The third and final position (all the way out) will enable you the work the hour/minute hands.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, thanks, that's what I figured. But last night at around 1am the date had not changed, so I reset the date and time on the watch. I'm guessing since it didn't change it thought it was 1pm and I didn't hurt the watch, but how can I be sure? Or am I just overreacting about the whole 8pm to 3am thing?

It's not a problem at all; however, because you set the watch when you did is why the date didn't change by 1am.
