Post subject:  Help with my SOH. 42mm or 46mm

I really never owned a watch so this being my first took some time to get to this place.

I decided on the SOH and I decided on the color (Blue!).

Now I'm debating the size. Most of the salespeople say to go bigger. It seems a bit bulky and big on my wrist. It also is heavier (by about 25 grams). But again, the salespeople say I'll get use to it. Here are a couple of photos of both sizes on my arm. Does the big seem too big... or smaller one too small?

Thanks for any input

What do *you* like the look of better? You're the one who'll have to live with it.

I have a 42mm, and a 44mm Breitling. Personally I think the 42 wears better on my wrist. Granted, I'm 5'8, so my wrists are smaller than the average. You mention bulky and big, but not small and dainty. So, maybe you have your mind made up already :)

I'd say the 42. Sits better IMO

Both look very good on your wrist. They don't seem small. I'd go with 46.

You will like both. I have a 46 on a small wrist and it fits well and looks awsome in my opinion. 42 did not exist a year ago when I bought mine. If I had to do over again I might have gone with the slightly smaller size but I think you will be happy with either. Forget the salespersn or anyone elses opinion for that manner and choose the one you like best.

The 42 looks like it fits perfectly. The 46 is passable.

Many Breitling sale folk seem trained to push the bigger (and usually more expensive) watch. On my first watch, I was looking at an AS and was concerned it was too big, then noticed the CSO. As soon as I said I liked it, three of then said, "Oh no, no! You want the Avenger!! Wrist size doesn't matter, it's how tall you are. (heard that at several places, must be a part of training)." I left with the Avenger and took it back in 7 days.

Bottom line, I should have listened to my heart and blocked out the rest.

I don't usually comment on the A vs. B thing, but have to agree with sharkman. The big watch thing is past its peak - just look at how many more 'classically sized' pieces are being released by the major brands. The 42 will look good on your wrist for the next 30 years, one day you will look at the 46 and think - darn that's too big for me.

I'd go with the 42 if I were you...

If you're a really big dude then go for the 46 but I know when i tried on the 46 I thought it looked comical, and I have a PO XL at 45.5, but to me the 46 soh just looked like a really big flat watch. Screw the sales people, buy what you like not what they say you should like.

Thanks for all the input. And from all the comments it's seems to really be a toss up. I feel crazy that I can't make my decision, but it's like when I go clothes shopping... I have no idea what looks good and I have to ask someone at the store. LOL Since I have the 46mm in my possession I've been wearing it around to see how it feels. At times it looks good, other times it does look a bit big and as 'king of ling' said almost 'comical'. (i'm not a really big dude.. 5'`0, 190 lbs. My wrist is 7.5 inches)

The store wants its decision tomorrow to exchange for the 42mm if I want. The weird thing is I looked at my friends 41mm Omega watch and since it had no bevel, the face was exact same size face size of my 46mm.

I have a slightly bigger than 7" wrist and the 42mm fits me perfectly.
