I'm looking to purchase this watch in the near future. It will be my first Breitling. Any inputs? Pros/Cons...

I was debating between the Chronomat 41 or the Chronomat 44.

Opinions greatly appreciated.

For the model: CHRONOMAT 41
Case : Steel
Dial : Gray Pearl Diamond
Bracelet : Pilot Steel
Reference : AB014012|G712|378A

Thanks, I'll be picking it up within a few weeks...I'll be traveling and most dealers don't have it in stock. I believe the main differences between the 41 and 44 is the size. Movements are the same...anything particular reason to spend the xtra 2k?

It's up to you.....For me 44 is TOOOO BIG.
It's all about SIZE...Not how you use it..

I agree that you should buy the watch that appeals to YOU however, the trent is towards bigger watches right now. I would spend some time investigating the bigger watches to see how they appeal to you. You wouldn't want to buy a watch and then wish you had made a different choice.

I have a Superocean 44 and consider it to be the perfect size.
All down to personal preference.

It's more about what fits you best. For my 6.5-inch wrist, 41mm is a much more appropriate size than 44mm. I was out trying on Panerais the other day, and both the woman I was with and the sales lady agreed the 40mm size fit me perfectly, whereas the 44mm was absurdly large for my wrist. Some watches are clearly made for women, but I don't think the Chronomat 41 is one of them; it just presents an option for those of us who either don't need or don't like huge watches.

There is a slight design difference on the dial between the two styles; the 41 has an irregular side on the square by the date, whereas the 44 allows the square to go right into the date. IMO, this gives the dial on the 41 a slightly more asymmetrical appearance than the 44. Also, the 44 has the option of a brushed bezel; the 41 does not. Beyond that, though, there's not much to recommend one over the other, except for how they fit. Try them both on, and take someone with you (women seem particularly good at this) who can help you honestly determine which one fits you best, in case you're prone to hearing the locker-room chant in your head that you should go bigger just cuz you're a dude.

it really is how it fits "your wrist". i fall into the same camp as Jackson. my wrist size is a little larger at 7 inches but like him the 44mm panerais in the 1950 case look retarded on my wrist.

I could just as easily argue that larger watches are for insecure guys who are compensating for shortcomings in other areas. But that would be neither correct nor fair to those who wear larger watches out of either personal preference or for a more appropriate fit. The same goes for saying a 41mm watch is for ladies.

Not insecure, but "compensating for shortcomings" in the near vision department.

a 44mm panerai doesn't wear the same as a chronomat 44, not even close

True - perhaps that wasn't the best example. But I also used to have an Evo, which has virtually the same dimensions as a Chronomat 44, and I ultimately felt it was too big for me. If it had been the same watch in a 41mm size, I likely would still have it.
