Recently I've bought both an evo and a super avenger blacksteel but as much as I love them they're not perfct, at least not for me. The evo's a gorgeous watch but a tad bit on the small side and the SA is equally cool but a bit too large. So, I've been toying with the idea of selling them along with my Sinn 103 and Suunto core and getting a B04 GMT. Larger than the evo, smaller than the blacksteel, classier than both together. Would you do this and would you get the B04 on bracelet or not?

No for me. Switching between different size watches is kinda nice, IMO. Somedays a bentley feels right, other days a 38.5mm tutima.

Have you tried the GMT 04? It looks every bit as huge as an SA to a extremity challenged fellow like myself.

Yes I have and it wears slightly smaller than the SA due to it being a bit thinner. It's actually kinda perfect on my wrist as I'm not all that challenged :)

But I've tried it on rubber strap, l guess it looks a bit larger on bracelet. I'm mainly wearing my evo on rubber (silver dial, blue proII) which is a great combo. Maybe, hypothetically, I should skip bracelet and go for rubber....if I decide on trading that is.

I tried on the GMT04 and also felt it was a bit big for my wrist. But I also wear a Bentley. Go Figure. :?

Personally, I'd maybe consider giving up one watch to gain another, but I'd not forego four watches that I loved enough to buy in the first place. You must really be panting for the GMT. Each to their own, but you have a heck of a collection, maybe a shame to decimate it without at least a stab at affording the GMT some other way ?

Can't really see me affording the GMT without selling almost the entire and fairly modest collection as there are other expences to be dealt with such as house renovation, holiday savings, car repairs and so on.

Maybe I should keep the blacksteel, sell the rest and get a B01. That won't be all that bad as I never wear the Sinn and almost never the Suunto and the wife has stolen the submariner. I guess what I want is to upgrade a bit, go for inhouse and the B04 was a nice and unusual alternative.

Problems, problems :)

:) Problems indeed. In that case, go with your heart and don't look back...possibly...no, definitely...oh I don't know. I've agonised over a similar dilemma recently, still not at peace with my decision, but the lure of a new Ling once the seed is sown is a formidable force.

That's what i'd go for. Keep the blacksteel and go for a B01.

A couple times I thought about selling the lot and getting a Fifty Fathoms. Never did it because as much as I love that watch, I also love some variety and the watches I have had have been of pretty high quality too. I recently have downsized myself for a while, but I think you need at least two.

Sell or trade one or two but a 4 for one seems insane to me IMO

From what I've read it seems that you're not completely satisfied with either the SA or the Evo and don't wear the Sinn or the Suunto very often. If that's the case then it doesn't make any sense to me to keep all of them instead of unloading them and getting something that you really want. Yeah, variety is great but if you're not happy with that variety then what's the point. I say sell them all and get the B04 GMT if you like it that much and pick up a $200 Seiko for a beater.

Jeez guys, you're not really helping out here with conflicting advice and sowing seeds of doubt but this is the thrill of being a WIS right, pondering over trades and upgrades, getting advice from people as passionate and idiotic as one self.

Thank you all, I haven't reached a decision but I might any week or month now :)

I don't think this is that bad of an idea. Never a bad idea to get rid of the old and get something new, even if you are trading 4 to get 1! I say go for the GMT 04! (which is a beautiful watch might I add). SA has nothing on it. :lingsrock:
