Hello all I have had my eye on the Seawolf in yellow on a Pro II bracelet for a while and have taken the plunge. In the age of austerity I have managed to get the watch for £2,700. I did haggle and had two dealers, an independent and a chain to get the best deal I could. I think this is a good saving on the list price and it's on its way direct from Breitling. What do you all think?. I'm very excited about this watch as it's a change from my usual black face watches. I tried it on and felt that it wore less big than I initially thought, despite its thickness. I have also tried on the Rolex Deepsea, which I thought was too big on my wrist, so went for the Seawolf. |

Is that over £700 off retail? That's a fantastic deal! Makes me realise Im useless at haggling. I tried on a SOH46 just over a week ago and the AD offered to knock off £520 to take it down to £3000. Makes me realise there's obviously more to be had, got any tips? |

I showed the AD a list I had made with around 8 other ADs, contact name & no.s, and best price. The AD realised I was serious about buying from somebody, and didnt want to lose the sale. So they let me have it for 20% off; a £625 saving ![]() |

Yes it's around £700.00 off the current retail price in the UK. I think that once the dealer realises that you are serious about buying and you have a direct but polite approach to haggling then I think you can get the price down. The first dealer I went to I asked for a discount and they offered me a fair deal. I didn't commit there and then and went to another dealer. I said to them that I wanted the watch and asked what they could take off the price. I said I was already in negotiations with only one other dealer. They asked me what they had offered and I said I would not say until they gave me their best price. The offer wasn't as good and at that point I disclosed the offer from the other dealer and said I was going to give the sale to them. They then said they could move further on the price and went down to what I accepted. The first dealer couldn't match the deal so I accepted the second offer. I know it's sometimes daunting to ask for a discount. But dealers want to sell these watches, and even moreso during the recession. It's about how you approach them I think. It also shows how much markup is made on watches at this level and above. I am confident that I got the best price I could because neither dealer could move the price down any further. |

Cracking watch, and a very good choice if you're sure you can live with the yellow Dial. Like you say it does make a nice change from the usual black dials. Loosk like you haggled a good discount. 20% is pretty good in this country. Hope you get the watch soon ready to enjoy it over Christmas |

Currently dealer cost is about 55%. It was less than 50% not too long ago. Most ADs will tell you watch sales pay the rent and keep the lights on; jewelry sales pay for all the rest. On an "average" watch costing $4K, after discount the dealer is making a few hundred on a 25% markup. In most retail settings 30% cost is the norm (70% markup!!!!). So our ADs aren't exactly kicking a$$ and taking names and the more successful ones need multiple locations and other marketing venues that don't require a buyer to walk into a store to make the sale. |

I can live with the yellow dial. Indeed I've wanted it for ages. I now have a Navitimer Ltd, Superocean, Colt and a Rolex Submariner 2010 edition. These watches are really my only excess in life ![]() |
