Hello All-

I am new to the site/forum, so I apologize ahead of time if I am posting in the wrong spot or if this is not an appropriate post.

So I had a SuperOcean stolen from my home about a year ago and I just decided to get a new Breitling. I also own an older TAG Aquaracer with black rubber band, which I use for more of a day-to-day/sports watch. With that being said I have ordered a Navitimer World with SS band and silver face. Im anxious and excited about the purchase, but I am starting to have some buyers remorse as to whether it is too big/flashy. I tried it on multiple times over a few days before buying and it felt comfortable and I thought it looked great. I know that my opinion should be the only one that matters, but I do also want to be sure that I am not spending a lot of money on a watch that may give off the wrong impression. I am not interested in what someone might think that doesnt know watches (why I am posting on this forum and not asking friends), but I do want to be sure that I am buying a watch that is not a trendy piece that wont work 10 years from now. I look at this as an investment. My thought was that as I grow older (I am 31 now) I could always switch to a leather strap for a less flashy look. I am sure people will wonder whether I considered the more classic Navitimer and I did, however, it just felt too small and I feel that they are not unique enough for me (beautiful watch, just not for me).

I would be wearing the Navi World for business, nicer dinners, other special occasions, etc.

Any thoughts/opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Tom

First of all, :welcome: to BreitlingSource.

As you very well stated, the ultimate decision is yours to take and what anybody else thinks is totally irrelevant.

Having said that, any Navi is considered a classic piece, even if we see the World less around, so it will last a lifetime, provided it has the care it deserves. There is no way it will look outdated in 10, 20 or 30 years, it will be trendy forever. And it is not flashy.. Now, as for size, only you can be the judge of that depending on how you feel the watch on your wrist. Obviously, if you have a small wrist, it will show a little big but if you found the normal Navi too small, don't think about it.

As for strap/bracelet options, they are nearly limitless with Breitling. If you choose a calf or croco strap, the World won't be less flashy, it will have a completely different look. A croco strap will make it stand out much more than with the bracelet. It also makes the watch more dressy but that is my personal opinion, so forcibly biased as I am a strap man. Make sure to choose a deployant strap, though, it will be more comfy, safer and it will make the strap last much longer than a tang type. If you ordered the silver face, an awesome combo will be with a gold strap.

And do post some pics when you're done.

Tomcat pretty much nailed it on the head with his response, so I will just add a couple things. You chose a very timeless Breitling, and congrats for doing so. If you liked it when you tried it on, you will most likely love it on your wrist once you own it. The size will not seem so large after you wear it for a while. As far as straps, well that's the fun part, "gaining" another watch just by changing the look is a great way to hold your interest for a long period of time. Welcome to Breitling Source!

I love the silver dial Navi World too. I tried it on with a black croc strap and it looks stunning. My opinion is that that the bracelet is what make you think it's too flashy. I know when I wear my Avenger on the ss bracelet it gets a lot more attention than when on the rubber strap. That's why I bought the strap, to dress it down when I want to. But that's a different watch. The croc strap keeps the classy, elegant look and takes some of the bling away. You should try the strap with it and see if that gives you the best of both worlds.

This is the watch I wear. In the store it looked a lot bigger on my wrist, but fits great, doesn't look too flashy at all in my opinion.

I think you've made a good choice.

The World is the last B I bought, probably to end my collection in reality.

As the fellows say, the looks can vary immensely depending on the strap option you choose.

I change mine very often.

Som it's good for multiple use. Just don't shower with it on tho ok? Promise us all that! You may see the WR rating and think you'll be fine, but most everyone here would suggest that any forced moisture and Navitimers are not a good combination.

Enjoy the beautiful World when it arrives.

Here are a couple of pics of strap combo's I wear, just to pop a few ideas into your head!
