For insurance purposes, I need to know the value of my Breitling Windrider Duograph; a discontinued model that has given magnificent service for many years. The serial number seems to be: 815507 but I can't be absolutely sure of this because the engraving is somewhat "fuzzy". My watch has a blue face and, originally it had blue buckle strap but having bought many replacements in the past, some five years ago, I invested in an A300 steel bracelet. I've retained the last buckle strap but I regret that, having moved house several times since I've owned the watch, I'm unable to locate the box and papers. Any assistance with a valuation would be welcome. Thank you. Chris (prop-c).

General valuation advice is covered in the FAQs, #2 here - http://www.breitlingsource.com/articles_faq.shtml#8, there are four on chrono24 right now to help you get an idea.

With a watch of this age the service history will also factor in and if the watch hasn't been serviced recently then that will reduce value, but likely less of an issue for insurance.

For a realistic example of what they sell for you should check the closed auctions on ebay. You'll find a few, some without paperwork and boxes and some with. You can get a feel for what you should insure yours for based upon what the real market is.
