Post subject:  breitling navitimer foggy inside
Hello All,

I just bought a used navitimer world yesterday. I wore it this morning and noticed it's all foggy inside the glass? I feel this is not normal. Anyone know what the cause can be? It's still under warranty. Also.. where can I find information on how to set the time of the watch?

take it back to your AD and tell them your concern. I am sure they will be more than happy to help you out.

You'll need to get it to an authorized service center ASAP. The fog is a sign of water ingress and will do significant damage to the movement - the sooned you get it looked at, the better.

Is my navitimer world waterproof? And do I need to screw the crown to make it water proof?

Hi Vickg,

Here are a few links which may help answer your questions.

In here it says that your watch is water resistant to 30m. Notice that it says resistant and not waterproof.

You need to look here for 30m and look at the comments to the right of that. I think that I am correct in saying that it would not be recommended to go swimming with this watch on - more that this watch could withstand being splashed perhaps.

Crown Information:

Where this says that your crown is 'non screw locked' that means that it relies on the crown being pushed and not screwed home. When the crown is pushed all the way home, several gaskets form a seal which helps to protect against splashes.

Just to reiterate - get it to a service centre immediately. The water resistance is compromised and the movement may be rusting as you read this. Also, be aware that if the watch is tested and found to be water resistant to 30 metres Breitling has no obligation to honour the warranty as they can legitimately claim that the water got in through abuse.

Ok, I bought the watch used and it's only 3 months old. I never abused it to water. i hope the warranty is transferable? I am going to take it to a dealer this weekend and have it checked. I hope breitling will honor the warranty.

Warranty is transferrable, the problem is you don't know whether the previous owner exceeded the rated water resistance.

They don't care who did it. If the watch passes the pressure test - i.e. if it is water resistant to 3 atmospheres then they have the right to deny warranty service. They have taken the position in the past that they aren't responsible for misuse, and it's a legitimate position. The fact that any misue was by a different owner isn't really their concern. Not trying to be nasty about it, just warning you of a real possibility.

Seriously, just send it to Breitling, quick. A casio would be fine but not a highly technical mechanical watch. If you leave it long enough, rust may set in and it'll cost even more money.

Chances of Breitling covering this under warranty are unfortunately slim.

I will take it to a dealer asap, im just worried about a big cost associated with it. You are saying you don't think breitling will cover it under the warranty? it's said to be water resistance and it's only 3 months old. Why wouldn't warranty cover?
