Post subject:  Chrono Avenger or Chrono Avenger M1

Hey guys,

Im gonna buy a Breitling, but I don't know it's either Chrono Avenger or Chrono Avenger M1.

I personally think as a costly watch, it should be automatic. The thing is, Chrono avenger it's supposed to be a diving watch but it doesn't have the locks on those 2 push pieces( Im afraid of water can go in).

Chrono Avenger M1 looks very nice, fancy! It should not have any problem with water resistance( in the catalog it's said that it is operational for the two push pieces) The problem is , it is QUARTZ!
I don't feel like spending 3200 USD for a quartz watch.

But some people say Quartz watches r much tougher than automatics. By the way what is the Super Quartz really about?

By the appearence, M1 is nicer than Chrono Avenger. Should I spend money on the way it looks, the design or on the way it's driven( the movement)? So guys pls help me out, which watch should I buy.

Thanks so much!!!!!!

Hello Curt,

the important thing on the Avenger M1 are the magnetic contacts of the chronograph push pieces. Together with the titanium case, they make the use of the chronograph under water possible. According to my personal opinion, its the only Chronograph, that is really functional under Water (except some special Divecomputerwatches with large Pushbuttons ontop)

You cannot combine the magnetic mechanism with a mechanical movement for a decent price, as You would have to make the movement from completely antimagnetic material.

SuperQuartz means, that the movement is thermocompensated, so the accuracy of the movement is very much improved.

Best greetings
Thomas

Hi,

I've allready wrote about doving with Breitling under some other topic. My opinnion was and still is that you should not use Breitling as the main diving instrument.

It is fine to dive with Breitling but you really should use a proper diving computer such as Suunto or Mares when measuring your dive. So buy a Breitling you like without thinking about the diveing functionalities.

Until now I only bought quartz Breitling watches. I understand that some people almost get an orgas*** when seeing the mechanics of an automatic watch but for me functionality (correct time) and nice looking is most important. The fact is the that M1 will be more functional when diving. I bought the M1 not for the 1000 meter, maximum I will go is 3 meter, but the fact that this is the only watch that can be operated upto 1000 meters.
Concerning the price, all Breitling watches are overpriced with costs of goods of 10-20% of the retail price so forget that a quartz watch should be cheaper compared to an automatic.
