Breitling does a fantastic job printing custom dial LE's for military and civilian needs. Don's site, which you link to, has a great compilation of custom B-1 dials done over the years. What Don has listed is a great but is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what Breitling has produced.

Not only does Breitling produce custom B-1 dials but also LE Aerospace and Emergency watches as well.

If you really want to see some great watches here is a link to the Breitling Israel site that has pictures of many many LE's done for the Breitling Professional line.

Depending on what type of aircraft you have flown or been involved with there are several that obviously have a special meaning to the bearer and for so many different reasons.

My favorite is, of course, the Tomcat but there are several others that appeal to me.

Roff (or anybody else who might know or have had an experience) from what quantity is Breitling considering a request for an LE or special edition?

Yep. Some models the minimum is 25, but I think that most of those are discontinued now.

Our LE quantity was about 30ish on the Airwolf.

There were at some stage quite a few military patch editions in the region of 25 or 30 limited, quite a few have passed through my hands. Interestingly, when Breitling themselves issued a limited patch edition in steel, the run was usually not less than 50 ie... the Vulcan B1 etc... however lots of mili patch ones are less. MANY of the squad ones never had any lim. number on the back and the exact number is hard to trace. Some such as the Harrier B1 were actually sent back by many of the crew who ordered because of quality issues, lord knows what happened to this batch, i was not impressed with them. Very few actually made it back out there.

As Roff states the 25 option may not be there now but it was fairly common at one time.

The order I'm currently on is a 25 min. Not sure if it differs for other models or if Breitling is more lenient on the number with mil squadrons.

Our min order for the CF-18 airwolf was 25 in Canada. We ended up with 46 pilots getting them: 60% with blue face 40% with black face.

From what I recall all of the 25 minimums used to be quartz pieces, but it wasn't all quartz pieces so may be more complex than that. I suspect that they are a little more lenient with military orders, but don't have any evidence of that.

Yep, the min order for SQ Airwolf of the MC-130P AFSOC Herc was 25 as well (delivered this past summer/fall). We barely made it with 26 orders. LE sequence number engraved on the back.
