If you could pick one and why? Even though I am a proud owner of my Navi World, I feel as though if the opportunity came I would probably pass on my world. It would be tough though... :?

I like the simplicity of the BP over the World.

Big pilot without question for me. Solid in-house movement (driver may disagree), beautiful case finishing, clean/classic pilot dial, awesome pilot strap...it's just a beautiful watch. If my wrist could pull it off I would buy one tomorrow.

I have a collector/dealer friend, not that big of an IWC guy, who had a BP, sold it, and regrets it. It's not my thing, but for people who like them it seems like one of those iconic, "gotta have" watches that you enjoy for a time and ultimately sell, but it was worth it.

I agree with all points there - yes it is an in-house movement, yes it's beautifully finished, yes it's a clean/classic dial, yes it's got a superb strap and clasp, and yes I agree it's a beautiful watch. I would also agree it's got a solid movement - it's just that in my personal experience it doesn't keep good time at all.

I think I said on another post somewhere that the BP is simultaneously my favourite watch purchase to date, and also my biggest disappointment. I love everything about it other than the fact that it just cannot keep decent time (and nor, it seems, can IWC fix it  )

In contrast my Navi World keeps superb time. It's also a classic pilots watch in it's own right as well (well, the Navi style is at least). It's a super watch and probably my favourite non-in-house Breitling. It's just that the BP beats it in every area............ except that fundamental of horology - timekeeping. :?

If the BP kept reasonable time it'd be a lifetime keeper, and if the Navi World had an in-house movement that'd be lifetime keeper too. As it is, I can see myself selling both at soem point : the Navi World if/when the B04 makes it into a Navi World case, and the BP if/when they up the beat rate to 28,800.

Anyway here's an old pic of my two together -

Navi World for me. I love this one, but I also like the BP. Vexing question.

Take the Q apart and it boils down to this. For me, I would have a good reason for selecting one over the other, on any given day. Both are beautiful watches, and I would not select one over the other based on looks or taste alone. It would be on a needs basis.

One of each is the answer, as you seem to have discovered. :D

I have to say the BP leaves me cold. Maybe it's different in person but in picture at least there's just not enough to keep me interested.

Me too, but it isn't just the BP. I am not drawn to the whole pilot watch, uhr fleiger look. I recognize I'm in the distinct minority there.

Driver, is the poor time keeping on all BP's or just yours? That would bother me tremendously!

If I had to pick between the two I would go with the navi world, there's just nothing in the BP that does it for me. Although I do find the navi series of watches have a really busy look to them which I'm not so keen on.

Oh it bothers me tremendously too!

As far as I know, it doesn't necessarily affect every single BP (and BI for that matter as it uses teh same movement), but gaining a considerable amount of time is definitely a tendency of the 7 day movement. I know for a fact that Altair's BI gained quite a bit, as does the BI that one of my friends owns.

There was also a very interesting thread on WUS a year or so back on the IWC forum where someone ran a poll on BP timekeeping, and there quite a number of people who had extremely rapid BP's. To me this is pretty unacceptable in a watch that has an RRP here in the UK of £10.5K GBP.

That said, it is a superbly built and finished watch, and to those of you who don't like it in pictures, I'd very much encourage you to handle one before finally making up your minds. This really is one watch that pictures just don't do enough justice to.
