Post subject: | A Great Gift & A Question |
Hi All… been a lurker for some time, since I first started researching for that inevitable “first” purchase. While I don’t fly, as a kid I had quite an obsession with all things aviation and I am pretty certain that’s what sparked the love of Breitlings. To make a long story short, my lovely wife purchased a black Navitimer for me for my birthday. I am certain it was the “one” at some point or another, as I have had in interest in quite a few models over the few years. And the watch doesn’t disappoint… looks amazing. That said, I have contemplated an exchange for the CSO. This will actually be the first watch I have worn in quite a while and given my lifestyle, along with the thinking that long-term I will own more than one, I feel like the CSO might give me a bit more flexibility in a wider variety of situations from day to night. We are still relatively young, no kids yet and travel quite a bit for work and pleasure. As my "first" and only (currently), I plan on wearing either watch quite a bit and will be interested in strap options. Does this thinking make sense on the CSO vs Navi? Sorry for the long windedness and the standard “what should I buy” post… but figured this would be the place to get an opinion or two and I need to make up my mind in relatively short order. |

Your wife bought it - keep it = keep the peace. Think of this strategically, years later, she maybe surprises you with your favorite meal, you complain about a tiny insignificant thing about it, she brings up how she can do nothing right, like when she bought you the navitimer that you traded in. That said, keep the Navitimer and add to your collection. |

Ha.. she very much wouldn't mind if I exchanged, she picked the Navi because she thought she remembered me trying one on and wasn't certain if she was in the ball park. I assured her she was.. she just wants me to be happy with which ever direction I go and it wasn't one of those say one thing mean another instances (thankfully). |

Yep, Keep the Navi and work towards the CSO. Both are great watches but the navi is a classic. Not many people flip them. |

also, the MSRP is much more expensive than a CSO. If you did a straight trade for a CSO you would be on the losing end. |

Get rid of it and get what you want! If there's no special meaning to the watch I think it's crazy for anyone to suggest keeping it when you want to change. I'm not married, but if I was, I would want my wife to have the same attitude .... basically that she is happy if I am happy and who cares about whether a watch is a Nav or a CSO. |

It sounds like she wants you to be happy, if you don't love the navi, now is the time to switch in my opinion. With most Breitlings you can change the appearance by switching straps. Here are three totally different looks for my CSO that make it very versatile for every occasion. Good Luck, whatever route you go. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks.. and great pics. Love the different looks. We wouldn't be losing anything on the exchange.. it would be through the dealer so its just a matter of preference. I love both on the wrist, but aI m thinking I like CSO a little more for right now. I like that its a bit sportier, water resistant, that sort of thing. Either way I figure I cant really go wrong. |

Its such a personal thing, surely we cant advise beyond the obvious...if its a straight choice between one or the other, it has to be the one that gives you the most pleasure in ownership. Congratulations on a beautiful gift either way. |

Navitimer is an iconic watch that is deeply routed in Breitling history, you should keep it and then treat yourself to another model down the road. ![]() ![]() |

It sounds as though the Navi is within the dealer return period. You have nothing at all to lose if you are confident your wife is comfortable with it. Make the exchange to get the watch you want and you will have a store credit for the difference in price. Seems simple to a simpleton like me. |

I ended up pulling the trigger on the exchange. The dealer had a 2010 CSO available (black face) and after trying it on, it just felt (and looked) right. I definitely love the Navi and will probably begin the quest for that soon, but for now, I am enjoying the CSO. Picked up the ocean racer and a leather strap to give me some added flexibility with different looks. |
